It for some reason costs 20 more gold in WW1. Honestly not much better than Light Machine Gunners, and if you have this kind of money AND a lv5 city to spawn it from. Use an Armored Car.

At least they are worthy of putting an Infantry general on, of which the best one for that role is Boroevic. Only if they are pre-spawned or if you are on an emergency, though. (Ex: Being under siege and having no stables to spawn Armored Cars from).

A slightly beefier form of the admired car for a lower price however it lacks mobility and victory rush this makes it bad for attacking enemy cities and cleaning up weak enemies. Only advised when defending against really heavy attacks while you want to build a counter attack. It’s good for its use, 4*
Btw I will add special units, cav and arty tomorrow

Don’t even think about spawning this unit. 2*: Not useless, but has bad stats and a bad price. Still not worth spawning. 3*: Mediocre. Useful in some situations, but it’s not reliable. 4*: Good. A reliable unit, though not good enough to be optimal. 5*: Great. An excellent unit that you can always spawn to fight the enemy.

Am I the only one thinking that Heavy Machine Gun is a deadly unit? Let's give it a try, for example with a mere low tier general such as Falkenhayn: There we go: 157 damages, and it's not even a critical hit. Enough said.

It really isn't just about what can hit hardest (though that's a very important point). It's extremely expensive, at 180 gold and 12 pop! Armored Cars are 9! It's slow (11 move and no march), it's hard to spawn, and Armored Cars are better in every way.

More than 150 damages for an Infantry unit, that's pretty impressive in my opinion. Sometimes, I even reach 200 thanks to critical hits and still with low tier generals (Falkenhausen, Gallwitz...). They are terribly efficient against Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry... Pretty much everything, in fact.
So, in my opinion, those units are largely worth their cost.
They can be a very good alternative to Armoured Cars, although I agree that they remain quite slow.

Armoured Cars are still the most important unit, of course! But it is more difficult to buy them. You need advanced stables and enough ressources... which is far for being the case, especially if you play with a 1 star country in Conquest. On the contrary, your capital is always at a level high enough to let you recruit HMG at the very beginning. It seems much more logical to me to start with a HMG rather than a Armoured Car you can't even recruit...

That situation is actually 100% irrelevant because every 1 star nation in 1865 and 1914 except for Greece in 1914 starts out with a lv3 capital. In 1917 they all start out at lv4. Upgrading the capital to lv5 to build HMGs is an absolutely terrible idea. Edit: Denmark in 1865 can build HMGs right off the bat. But they also start out with a stable and 250 gold and 110 industry. Which is EXACTLY what you need for an Armored Car. Point still stands, if you can build HMGs, you most likely can build Armored Cars.
