I dunno how to win this mission. I tried this things: 1. Attack and get mutina so I have economy for defense, but when octavian comes, i will get overwhelmed. 2. Get the other key cities and defend, but after about turn 10+, my economy and units cant support the city anymore. I also seen that the generals near mutina will not defend with me after mutina is taken by either me or them. Is there any trigger for the generals to defend with me?

Since nobody answered the only thing I can tell you is you’re not alone. I’ve just reached the mission. As soon as I finished it I’ll let you know how.

Ok, Navia Lanoira , with this strategy I won 25 medals. A replay worked more or less the same, so it wasn’t sheer luck. Fat arrows = attacking generals Thin arrows = minor attacks Generals: Commander, Anthony, Mith VI (w/ Military Map), Pompey, Huo (deployed round 9) - Dont care about Mutina. The allied generals will keep the enemy gens busy there and buy you some rounds. Focus on the 3 target cities in the given order.
- City A is the key and your basis to replenish heavy armored legions.
- A fast capture of A is crucial. Try to toatally encircle the heavy cav gen, together with the allied archer and light cav. It worked same in both tries. Like that he’s dead in round 3. Better start again incase this takes much longer.
- Upgrade cities and the military camps at B for your heavy armored generals
- Capturing A triggers Agrippa to attack city B. A is safe for the moment, so use all forces to finish Agrippa as fast as possible. Return your main forces to A to replenish and prepare for the attack coming from Mutina. At least one general must stay to defend B.
- Recruit a 5th general when you have the budget for it.
- use the archery in A and B to build slingers. They will help to defend against heavy inf more than another archer.
- I helped the allied general to capture C. But the fall of C triggers Octavian. Maybe it’s better to passively help at Mutina, to weaken the two generals before they turn to you.
- A second wave will attack B. Keep your defending general outside to flank them. Send help from A
- Now the two enemy gens stop attacking Mutina and turn towards A. This is the main battle. Use slingers against heavy inf to avoid casualties. When both are done it’s time to nail down Octavian with combined forces and capture the last city C.
- At least one secondary target of 40 killed enemies can barely be failed when you succeeded. Ending with no less than 35 units is harder. With Senat tech lvl V of consumeption I wasn’t even close.

I think it’s impossible to trigger allies to help you when it’s not scripted. In many missions I noticed strong “friendly” units, sitting and watching, while I struggle next door. As they won’t pay back I only help them when the briefing mentions it.

I believe an exception is Retreat of Romans because one would not expect the entire expeditionary force AND the province of Syria to be under the player's control should Surena be defeated before Crassus falls.

Maybe it didn’t happen. Anyway I have to replay the mission for perfect clearance. of course I do help allies...when it’s good for me. Sometimes they do advance after you help them to defeat an attack, sometimes it’s better to wait until an allied city is lost and retake it from a then heavy damaged enemy.

Oh, this part of the level is about Octavian allying with the Senate against Antony. Is there a specific name for that time period?

Oh, this part of the level is about Octavian allying with the Senate against Antony. Is there a specific name for that time period? It wasn’t a long alliance. Octavian just wanted the glory (of a victory) to push him forward. Because literally a year later, they joined forces and defeated Brutus and Cassius at the battle of phillippi (well anthony defeated as octavian was routed by brutus), and formed the second triumvirate. It was more of a political move to jump start his career. One of octavian’s many many manuevers that paid off

Ending: roman empire

screenshots of round 3,5,7,9,11,13,15 I got 3 stars in this mission, thanks. Slinger spam worked good. I recommend get mutina (if possible) after getting the southern city for resources and population to produce many units

Actually I thought you had it already because your request was a week old. I just didn’t want to leave it unanswered, maybe others look for the same sooner or later. There’re silent readers who don’t write requests. Ok, Next time I try to get Mutina too. I feared it triggers Octavian. It’s better to deal with him later, when all other waves are broken.
