Why is the GCR forum so quiet, only 9 months after release? EW6 1914 is four months old and it’s forum has already more thread pages than here. It feels like even the six years old EW4 has more traffic. Where are the players? All newer posts I see do come from the same small hand full of users.
Is the reason for the braindrain because two games were released within such a short time? Or are the early starters unsatisfied with GCR, so they turned their back on? Looking across the older threads I can’t read it between the lines, except the lack of grinding opportunities.
i don’t wanna complain. When I recently started I had a lot of questions and always got an answer. But I’ve seen requests for help not being answered for a week. In the pinned campaign list only ~20% have a guide, meaning there were no requests. The list ends with The Civil War Of Ceasar. For all campaigns beyond there’s not even a placeholder, so no update was added. The conquest list looks complete and ranked, but there not much guides. And so on... of course I understand admins have limited spare time. In times of Corona people may have bigger problems than a gamer forum.
I have only little experience with EW6 1804, only a first glance on 1914. After playing EW4 for a long time I didn’t really like the new design. That’s only an individual impression, others may say 1914 is a much better game, for any reason. Is that the point and why?
Some weeks ago I came across GCR and I liked it from the start. Nice design for maps and units, attractive aera, interesting tech and economic aspects. The difficulty raises steep at the begin, so it needs some studies to get into it, like all ET games. For now it entertains me but does it provide long term fun? Seeing the development raises my suspicion, either it’s too easy, too hard, or gets boring after all. Maybe I’m all wrong and the heavy ET users are just too busy researching 1914. The newest toy is always the best.
When you have played both, what would you say? Is GCR worth spending weeks to months on, or should I better give EW6:1914 a second chance?

Just taking a break from there, and doing everything in gcr before i get my mood back to play 1914.

Yep ET's timing is really peculiar, its like EA releasing a new FIFA and Battlefront 3 at the same time
It really spoiled gcr, considering that ew is a more relatable and familiar series.

I guess it’s not only a matter of timing. I’m now in late midgame and have a better view now. Kevin outlines my judgement very good in this thread. It’s a great game but with a few serious problems: FoW and the item-switch issue annoys me most. Since ET is not known for improving games in the long run, I also hope for a better sequel on GCR base.

I feel the same way. GCR is one of my fav ET games after all. It was quite lively at the beginning but I guess the difficulties (FoW, Taxman, medal farm, etc) of this game prevent casual new comers while the veterans were done with the game and move on.

Yes, something was wrong. Game ended too quickly, and has absolutely 0 replay-ability because conquests give 1-time rewards only.

Yes, the game is still only half a year old and the same thing is in wc3, rewards only once.
