I'm running a 2nd playthrough (PT) on WC4 here. My first PT has already completed all scenario and all achievement (except those achievement that requires you to spend 150 and 300 medals on useless wonders that generate science)
So in 2nd PT I'm challenging myself to not use any of the generals that I have used in my first PT (that include any generals that I have dismissed). Here is the generals that I have used in my first PT (therefore I can't/won't use them, think of them as being blacklisted): Tanks: - Guderian - Rommel - Graziani - Rokkosovski - Vatutin - Messe (dismissed) - Patton Artillery: - Konev - Leeb Navy: - Nimitz - Donitz Airforce: - Yamamoto - Arnold I understand that it'll be hard to get far without these generals (since they're the best ones and often recommended to new players), but for now I intend to play them only until cold war scenario (normal difficulty) You might also notice that I don't have any infantry generals since I often use Konev to fill that role (if needed) In this 2nd playthrough, I'm open to suggestion for buying infantry generals, but please state the reasoning (since I think inf. are too fragile and die too fast before they make any differences in the battlefield)
Now I'm looking for a general route to buy (currently at Axis06-Allies06 with SunL.R. as my only tank general with 2 medals for plain and forest) I don't mind expensive generals (but good performance:price ratio is also a plus), since: - medals can be gained with daily invasion and the like (don't worry, grinding here feels like a breeze for someone who played gacha games / mobage), - and also that upgrading skills costs far more than the price of the most expensive generals (guderian is about 3000 medals, while upgrading cheap skills like plain fighting from lv0-5 costs about 1200 medals, AND a general have 3-5 skills which means upgrading a general's skills from fresh buy to max costs about 3000-7000 medals)
My current short term plan: 1. SunL.R. for tank (bought) 2. Timoshenko for tank (bought) 3. Govorov for artillery (bought) 4 or 5. Kuznetsov for navy/air hybrid OR Model for tank 6. ZhangZ.Z. for artillery 7. Montgomery for tank
My current progress: - WWII European front (early): harder than my 1st PT since first general (SunL.R.) is quite expensive so I can't buy him right away, Messe from 1st PT is cheaper - WWII European front (late): easier than my 1st PT since SunL.R. > Messe in term of raw damage - WWII Pacific (early-middle): the normal difficulty is not impossible to win without naval/air general, just need to be creative in landing (prefer slower but safer landing) - WWII Pacific (late): need to restart operation sunset since I overlooked southwest city and end up with only 1 star - Cold War: not started yet

Best I can say is good luck! I’m looking forward to seeing how far you’ll get with the not so op gens.

My long term plan: - Montgomery for tank - Govorov for artillery Hey, looks like your deck is very similar to my planned final deck on my current play through. The difference is just your Vatutin and my Rundstedt. Maybe we have similar play style too?

Ofc they're similar since I got them from plagiarizing this forum's newbie general guide + path They're very good and cost effective (not really for some)
Which is the whole point of my 2nd PT: survive until cold war without those generals (which are OP and cheap)
So I'm asking for opinions on what generals to buy

I just realized you're my real life brother 😂 That's why your deck is very similar to mine. Btw, I like your profile and signature.😁

My long term plan: - Montgomery for tank - Govorov for artillery Well I can tell you directly since you're just a few metres away from me in real life. But for the sake of the forum, I'll answer here anyways.. Panzer: Montgomery (rumor, blitz), Sun L.R. (rumor + jungle medal) Timoshenko (rumor + plain medal), and Model (rumor + crossfire medal) or Leclerc (rumor + panz leader medal). Artillery: Govorov (rumor), Zhang Z.Z. (rumor) Air: Dowding (carpet bombing/rumor) Navy: Mountbatten (rumor), and Nagumo (rumor), you can fire Kuznet-soviet later. Infantry: Rundstedt (raider, rumor + raider medal) Hybrid: Bradley (rumor), he can be a hybrid of panzer, artillery, and navy in the beginning and may be upgraded to a pretty decent artillery with his accuracy upgraded (but not recommended for cost effectiveness). I believe you can even beat the modern war with this customization (at least the normal scenario)

I’m going to be brutally honest here: You will HARDLY pass Modern War. As I said before: I'm only going to play until cold war scenario Panzer: Montgomery (rumor, blitz), Sun L.R. I believe you can even beat the modern war with this customization (at least the normal scenario) Thanks, I'm adding Timoshenko for 2nd tank for his plain fighting and crowd tactics Then I'm updating my plan to: 1. SunL.R. for tank (bought) 2. ZhangZ.Z. for artillery 3. Timoshenko for tank 4 or 5. Kuznetsov for navy/air hybrid OR Model for tank 6. ? 7 or 8. Montgomery for tank or Govorov for artillery

I’m going to be brutally honest here: You will HARDLY pass Modern War. Honestly, I second this as practically all the good tank gens had been gobbled up in your 1st PT if you intend on a full clear. If you just want to unlock UN, Timoshenko is a good choice recommended by a member and you can see his argument for Timoshenko in Timoshenko's discussion thread. Govorov for arty is still a good choice. Zhang ZZ is an interesting option and I do see that he has some potential which is better than his competitor, Alexander. If you believed in Graziani's strength before, them his disciple, Model, should satisfy you.

For my 1st PT, Graziani is actually my 2nd tank (not Rommel or Rokossovsky even tho I have them and already upgraded them to max skills), because he have machinist, which is a very important skill in order to assure his survival. His survival is also enhanced as he have mountain fighting, which make me to purposely send him to mountainous terrain (terrain cover -20% from tank and -10% from artillery). I can see how you call Model as Graziani's disciple since both have 5* ability and ace forces + mountain fighting, but I just can't play him as Graziani lite (since in my mind Graziani = machinist). At best I'll just play him as mountain fighter or late stage general since he have ace forces.

Update: - managed to clear modern war / UN normal, all 3 star except mission 1, 8, 9 (which is 2*) - UN hard not tried yet (will try when free later) - training mission next: exercise in hudson bay - challenge mission all cleared (rescue/wipeout/resource) - got 1 strike for facist unique username (not actually related in game, must have offended some people there) - tech maxed out (ofc) generals (buy order): - sun +rumor, all skill lv5 - timoshenko +rumor, all skill lv5 - govorov +rumor, all skill lv5 - mountbatten +rumor, all skill lv5 - montgomery +rumor, +aa, all skill lv5 (except elastic) - dowding +carpet, all skill lv5 - bradley +rumor, all skill lv5 - runstedt +rumor, +raider, all skill lv5 (except elastic) gameplay: - quite hard, the key is medal grinding through daily invasion until all generals have lv5 skill and LGen rank or higher (this level of grind is nothing if compared with clash of clans/clash royale/grandblue) - having sun and timo means moving very fast; against new world order it's quite effective, forming a heavy hammer (crowding/area buffed by timo's crow tactics) and capture cities ASAP (since NWO's unit are very expensive, reducing their cities fast is a must when playing with underpowered generals) - firing with artillery first (govorov) on troop guarding city is a good idea: he have explosive and rumor and not countered (from artillery's firepower), more damage if from jungle (his 1* movement didn't help much though) - not having blitzkrieg means depending on runstedt's guerilla to inject rumor (or not, he can die quickly if placed in frontline) - also important to build 6 generals first, then upgrade skills early (quality first then quantity) - stuck on exercise in hudson bay because of not having decent navy/air/inf (only have tank/arty, runstedt is good but cannot carry the whole mission unlike steiner's angreiff)

Truly impressive to not use the strongest generals! Also shows how OP rumor is

1. Rumor is OP = true. Pincer the enemy to drop 1 morale with 2 activated rumor generals are practically what's needed to stun any enemy. It also shows that fast movers are also a good solution against NWO that have few-strong-expensive units. In earlier scenarios like WWII Europe rumor didn't really help much because the enemy is more numerous-weak-cheap units with some few-strong-expensive mixed in. In my scenario gameplay I don't think I can stun lock Manstein in OP Bagration (need to spam artillery OR lure with cheap maneuver instead) Basically: rumor = good against few elite enemy, damage booster skills (armored assault/raider/accuracy/leaders) = good against many smaller enemies. Since it's kind of wc tradition to have endgame scenario with few-unbalanced-OP enemy, rumor is what makes the NWO winnable 2. I'm actually even more curious if anyone can solve NWO scenarios WITHOUT rumor (even with all IAPs) 3. About NWO-9 I'm actually kind of cheated there by exploiting this glitch/bug: european-war-4.boards.net/post/242789Basically just capture southwest most city first before killing Osborn, then the soviets never become enemy I wonder if it's intentional rather than bug/glitch - if Osborn dead, the soviets might think that it's a chance to take over the operation and take revenge on losing cold war (also recapturing their NWO tech research on the side) - but with Osborn alive, the soviets might think that we (america/british/soviet) still need to work together against common enemy, only to be surprised that the whole OP is already over and america has already captured the overpowered NWO technology (maybe stored in that southwest most city), therefore the soviets don't dare to declare war against america (unless they want american titan tank marching to moscow)
