Helping Pinnes to attack from the side is easier than this. For Pinnes' manoeuvre, some of your targets can be captured and held by the AI.
For Bato's option, Pinnes' attack hardly touches any of your targets which are spread out over a wider map.
Moreover, to get 3*, you need to defeat Tiberius, a heavy inf Roman gen and a javelineer Roman gen.
Defeating Tiberus is easy. Handling the heavy inf gen is doable if he attacks your base directly. However, the javelineer gen is the problem because he is always out of reach of too powerful to overwhelm with weakened and dispersed troops.
Additionally, Roman reinforcements appear on the map mid-game, the enemy's bases are heavily guarded and the enemy spams troops in waves at certain points.
What I did to earn a 2* clear was to split my forces to attack the objective bases west and SW of Partiscum. From Segestica, I would hit Singidunum and the Roman inf gen attacked Segestica.
Afterwards, I moved troops to Salona to assist a dying Pinnes and from there, I barely capture Tarsatica by Turn 16/16.
When I ignored Singidunum, the heavy inf gen attacks Pinnes and he dies.
If I marched my troops to both cities west of Partiscum, I can hit Tarsatica early, but would lack troops to capture Salona in the end.
Any help?
