War movies have always been a part of all of our lives. This will mainly be a focus on WWI and WWII films. What do you like the most about certain war movies, and conversely, what movies make you cringe (add reasons)?

What do you like the most about certain war movies, and conversely, what movies make you cringe (add reasons)? verisimilitude has always been a major feature of mimetic, modernist productions. However, it fails to recognize the filtered and subjective nature of memory vis a vis history, and thus is not a prime medium for representation for lets say the Holocaust or the brutality of conflict. Postmodernist movies tackle this the best, steering away from mimetic reductionism and instead tapping on the intimate experiences of the mininarratives, to challenge a certain stereotype or a dominant historical view (e.g. the dichotomy of Jew vs Nazi. victim vs victimizer in the Holocaust)

After all, films can only and will always remain as adaptation, interpretations or representations of a past, that may not even exist or be grasped according to postmodernism. Self-reflexive films could be the new hype, although society is still dominated by the hegemonic discourse of capital (i.e. gearing towards a profitable genre/type of movie, e.g. touching or realist). Although still contained, revisionist history can emerge as a leading feature for historical films in the future.

Anyway I made your mod.
