i've been doing conquests for medal rewards so i can buy generals, already got ivanov and beseler, and i just started campaign 3. You think i should keep doing more conquests to get fast medals for 3rd gen (probably hindenburg or mccellan) or just do more campaigns, i want to conquest challenge because they give lots of medals but not sure how hard they are.
items i got: 2 ambulance, 2 tent, best cav attack item, 2 best artillery attack item

not yet, do they give lots of medals? i done 7 different conquests so far so i can get fast medals, i basically want to get my generals early so i can rush through campaign fast. and conquests have been giving me lots of gold so i've been buying items, but im going to need a lot more gold.
i want to do conquest challenges but idk how hard that is, there are no threads on here talking about conquest challenges, are they basically the same as normal conquest but harder?

Yeah they give like 20 medals per mission i think while being based around a 3 star system similar to EW6: 1804's campaign.

With all EasyTech games I've experienced a lack of medals/gold after initial wins. This of course to pull players for IAP.
The alternative as I see it is winning what you can. Then suddenly your tech and generals will ensure relative easier game until end - here the Conquest Challenges in 14/17 and 3-4 Campaign Challenges.
My suggestion is therefore to focus on easy wins in campaigns (normal and challenge). Get the one, two or if possible three scenario rewards per campaign.
You can win challenge campaigns that are app 2 prior to normal campaigns. So if you can win through normal Ottoman, then you can also win US Challenge.
