current roster: generals i use for campaign
plumer
ivanov
beseler
jackson
molke
starting infantry general (can't remember name)
don't know if i should buy hindenburg or lee. hindenburg will be more useful for conquests and lee more useful for campaigns (because my inf general is weak and you only have 1 or 2 starting artillery units in campaign so having hindenburg won't be super useful)
problem with lee is he costs lots of books and costs more resources in general.
im in campaign 6 atm and im planning to finish all campaigns to max tech before i attempt conquest challenges.

I would go for Hindenburg, I got him very early in and he has been very useful all the time, but my first good inf general is Strauรenburg who came by the great update, until then I completed the most campaign and conquests with Turbo Grant and Gallwitz (my second inf currently).
Forget what I wrote, haven't seen that you already have Ivanov.
Buying Lee will be a good decision.

You have beseler, so buy lee. You will need him, as an inf gen. Then buy any general who you will like. Theres no bad choice, and if you want to change, you can as actually you have an oversupply of medals. Its better that you have already tried things, so there would be an early chance to win there. |

Try getting a navy general like Beatty or Hipper as well. Infantry is up to you, Straussenburg/Boroevic/Lee 1917 usually involves tougher enemy spams and an excrutiatingly huge distance to cover, so at least max mobility upgrades first |

yea thats what i found out about 1917, i struggled using portugal because france and england are useless, by the time i got to the france/germany border the enemy just outnumbered me like 5 to 1 and it was kinda impossible to deal with. i feel like your allies are weaker than the enemy whichever country you play, when i tried play with portugal, usa and england lost against canadians, but when i played on the other side canadians lost so it sucks

Defeating your immediate enemies swiftly, and then rushing to aid your allies is the only strategy for the unbalanced challenge conquests... and for 1917 you need to be really good at trench/positional warfare for some conquests like USA or Morocco

i do rush, when i played portugal i took spain out quickly in less than 10 turns i think but by the time i got to the enemy, there were just too many and i gave up. maybe its easier to fight in america than europe in 1917 and when you take whole of america just move to europe

just bought lee, replaced battle array with inf commander and will replace tunnel with inf master, what should i replace ambush with? i'm thinking plains but not sure. also is it worth replacing ambush for plains? ik ambush isn't amazing but it would cost me 15 books so i should probably save them and prioritise other generals.
