He can be a great general IF you have 3600 medals to spend on him. Which any casual gamer does not have. Grouchy is a top pick for free artillery generals so he will turn into a powerhouse with items and hp.

Regroup Grouchy, and ready to prepare tons of medals. Because you will have the strongest cavalry general in the whole tier-2, even can be compared to tier-3 generals, he is ------------------- BERTHIERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Plus, I don't think Grouchy is a good one at all, even Marmont will be better than him.

Despite what their stars lead you to think, these two occupy completely different Niches. Grouchy is an artillery general, whereas Berthier is a cavalry general who got his stars all mixed up. Check out his skills, he's Golitsyn with Geography. If you can't afford to train Berthier with Cav, toss him. If you can, evaluate whether you need art or cav

Why buy a top general for 4,000 medals when you can have second place for 800? Plus, you would need mega amounts of refreshes. It's not a viable method for the early game, and still difficult for the late game. I don't care how good you say he is, paying 4,000 medals for a general is outrageous.

Especially when the skill that distinguishes him from Golitsyn can be replaced by an item that costs 800 medals without any business general and can be obtained from an early campaign store with a 3* business provided at the level (I calculated once the cost of losing that move item slot to the war horse. For guards cav and Armored cars, it's meaningless

BTW I used Berthier on arty I haven't regrouped him becouse I'm in middle of conquest I find that if you have a replacement ready, regrouping mid-conquest can actually be helpful
