I've just started playing this, having been a long time fan of Axis & Allies. I have got to grips with most of the basics, but I can't find any info on the fire that sometimes appears on a square. Could someone run me through the whys and wherefores please?
Does it actually harm your troops? Can you get rid of it? Does it just disappear on its own over time and if so, how long? Are there specific circumstances that cause it to appear?
And anything else you can think of that might help.
Cheers guys!

I can't remember if it does inflict dmg on the player or allied troops, but it's best to assume that it does deal dmg and avoid it. Depending on the size of the fire, the dmg it deals differs. However, fires should go out over time. It's usually the effect of arty especially RA, IIRC. Other fierce attacks like bombardments by battleships or aircraft may be able to trigger it (I'm not too sure which ones, as I last played WC3 years ago).

Nobunaga is right, but generally every unit is capable of producing fire that does quite a lot of damage (about 15-30 per turn). Cities seem to catch fire especially easily. The only way fire surely cannot be caused is through air or missile attacks. However, note that if you are using nuclear weapons there will likely be radiation (looks green). This deals more damage than fire, perhaps 30-60 per turn, so be careful.

Thank you both for your replies! I figured it would do some damage, but the info is hard to come by!

It does deal a tiny bit of damage. Say 4 or 5? In WC3 any type of attack can set a tile on fire. Sometimes it goes away sometimes it doesn't.

I've just tried it myself and it does seem like it is only dealing a miniature amount of damage. I guess it might vary between different campaigns or conquests. You can certainly try it out.

Well, so far I know it's a percentage damage because I made generals have 2000 health and they lost a chuck of health. I will look for it.

Erich von Manstein, so far I haven't found it. I checked army, cofig, strings and much more. I believe it is because some things are missing in your unlock Apk. For example tank and Artillery pngs are missing.
