How is the rating system working in the media of your country? This is how it does here in Romania. To be honest, I find it much easier than the PG system, with all of its subdivisions. I think this image explains it much better than I ever could. And for anyone curious, the NAC (CNA in Romanian - Consiliul Național al Audiovizualului) ”is the official regulatory agency for the audio-visual market (radio, television) in Romania. Television broadcasts and cable television, frequency allocations, content monitoring and license allocation are done by the CNA, that is the main regulatory authority for the broadcast media in Romania. The appointments to its board are politicised, and the body thus often acts in a biased and ineffective way.” (quoting this source en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Audiovisual_Council)

My nation has the *Auto Corrected* MPAA system for movies, the slightly better TV Parental Guidelines, and the worse-than-both ESRB video game ratings.

haha, in Singapore you have PG (parental guidance), PG13, NC16 (nobody under 16yrs of age), M18 (minimum 18yrs old) and R21 (restricted, only for 21 yrs old and above). Highly political works may sometimes be pushed towards M18/R21, even if they have no sexual or violent scenes in them. It is of no surprise, considering the conservative and right-leaning stance that our country currently takes

In Canada we basically just have 4 ratings for movies. G (basically 5-year-olds), PG (parental guidance, no idea how that works), PG-13, and R (18 years old). For TV shows PG-13 is replaced with 14+ (oh yeah big difference there) and R is replaced with M.
Basically, if you swear more than once (or was it twice) then your movie's rated R by default.
And then for video games, there's a huge pile of ratings, but really the only ones that matter are E for everybody and R.

A few more notes about Romania:
- most of the colours for ratings are no longer used, preferring to go with a small sized semi-transparent/white longo on the bottom of the screen; only anything 18+ still maintains the colour red, but it's not always happening, and there are few such programmes even being broadcasted (pornography is close to non-existent on Romanian TV programmes, and horror movies are either mostly on the foreign TV channels, or are rated 15+)
- despite the rules, most of the pre-2000 Romanian movies are rated as AP/Parental Aprival, no matter the content; that is why movies containing violence, nudity or sex can be broadcasted in the middle of day, as long as they are old movies (to be honest, kind of a strange move), and it explains why some of the bizzare Romanian movies of the 90s can be seen by anyone (bit of context: after 1989, the heavily oppress Romanian cinematography suddenly got full liberty to explore whatever would have been censored by the communist regime; this way, we got some utterly bizzare, some times very violent, full of sex and most of the time just of poor fashion movies, trend that continued until the early 2000s)

Well, as we all say, freedom of speech is a double-edged sword. You get more opportunities to say what you want, but not everything that everyone says is good.

I think that the one f-bomb rule for PG 13 movies is really dumb. You have movies like The Martian, which literally has two instances of profanity, and as a result, is rated R, and then there are movies like the Wolf of Wall Street, which has a Guinness World Record for most swear words, and a bunch of other... Really American stuff, which is also rated R. I feel like instead of having PG-13 there should be R and then R+ or something like that.

There is a Netflix documentary about Fyre Festival. Swearing happens considerably (5 times I think) and, here in Brazil, it is rated as 14+.

Gone, in Romania, most of the swearing is censored in the AP and unrated programs. If you move to the 12+ area, most of them (minus serious profanity words) are no longer censored. After that, it's free real estate.
