(Apologies if I've posted in the wrong section) Hi all, first time posting on here but have been using this forum for guidance and advice for a while now. I would never have managed to get far without the guides on here so thanks to everyone who puts time into this forum, it's been a massive help!
Right now though I'm looking for some personalised advice regarding my generals lineup. I'm currently on my second attempt at completing the game, first time round I unlocked the modern war scenarios, took one look and ran away! Decided to grind medals for general upgrades. I had made some huge amateur mistakes early on, before I discovered this forum, and wasted some medals on trades and weak generals along the way. My 6 year old son ended up deleting the game from my android phone and I didn't realise you could/had to save your game for occasions such as that. So when I redownloaded the game to discover I had lost all my progress it was a bag of mixed emotions. I opted to focus on the pros of starting over, such as not wasting precious medals on garbage generals like bagramyan, crerar or de gaulle and also not wasting them on trades (newb moves) So I can play smarter this time. Still, it was painful after working so hard for so long to have to start from scratch. As a pity present to myself I decided to buy a general, and I went for eisenhower because he came with gold, I believe he was the cheapest option at 9.99, but he'd be useful to stick on a tank or arty unit and of course he's max naval and air so he was my guy. I got messe and began my journey toward recruiting the main man guderian. After that konev and rommel were next on my hitlist. On my first play through I bought rommel full price because the discount levels were too difficult for me and I never had a decent tank general at the time, but this time I'm not being such a newb and I had guderian on the roster. I really had to grind to get my tech upgrades and my hq level up to 30 so I could deploy super units, but I refused to buy another general so I could use all my saved medals for konev and rommel once I'd completed the discount missions. I eventually got there, leaving my roster complete. But of course its not complete. Messe is not an end game General so will soon need to be sold. And I believe you want 3 tank, 2 arty, 1 naval and 1 Air for end game? I can't remember so some guidance here would be much appreciated. I have 1 nato mission left to complete on normal before unlocking modern war. I can't bring myself to unlock the door to the terrorists before completing my roster, or at least being on my way to completion. My roster looks like:
Eisenhower, no upgrades Green badge.
Messe, no upgrades.
Guderian: AA lvl 4/Blitz lvl 5/panzer leader lvl 3/rumour lvl 4/explosives lvl 3 Red badge
Rommel: Desert lvl 2/ crossfire lvl 2/ AA lvl 4/ blitz lvl 3/rumour lvl 4 Green badge
Konev: arty leader lvl 2/ raider lvl 1/ accuracy lvl 1/rumour lvl 3 /empty slot Green badge
So, my first question is, what skill do I fill konevs empty slot with? Then, do I focus on upgrading current gens skills or get ready to sell messe and buy a new tank General? When the time comes, who should I buy out of rokossovsky, vatutin or graziani? I currently have 2142 medals.
Then, in regards to endgame lineup, how many gens do I need? Will eisenhower suffice as an endgame naval or air gen or will he become useless? Do I need to buy leeb as a secondary arty gen? If I need more naval gens do I opt for nimitz, donitz or yamamoto? Would Arnold be more valuable than yamamoto as an air gen? As you can tell I'm a bit lost right now and I dont want to spend any medals unnecessarily. If anyone has some useful advice on what they would suggest as my next spend it would be much appreciated.
My tech level still needs some work, I've just unlocked 100% chance to attack again with tank, only need the last armor upgrade to be fully upgraded on tank tech, arty has fallen behind, haven't unlocked 100% chance to disable yet as wanted to focus energy spend on tank 100 first. Guderian can clear a battlefield without breaking a sweat now! And to think I didn't even buy him until after rommel on my first play through!

I completed Rommel's discount missions with only Konev, Guderian, Leeb and Messe (I just lost a triple heavy tank). The secret is simply a high level of Rumor, so put Rumor in Konev as the fourth skill. Nimitz is better than Eisenhower, as he may have a Rumor, unlike Eisenhower. Oh, and as the third panzer general, I prefer Rokossovsky, but I also like Graziani. As for Vatutin, I ignore him. I recommend maximizing the Rumor of your generals before making new acquisitions (or buy Nimitz + Rumor)

Some recommend deploying Explosives on the last slot to improve Konev's ability to crack forts. 2. Keep Messe for now. Clear as much of your Achievements and Domination as possible. A wise man ( stoic) once said something along the lines that it's better to have one or two strong and upgraded gens than numerous weak and unupgraded gens. Invest your medals into the most important dmg boosting skills (% dmg increase, Leaders, etc.) followed by key supporting skills like Rumour. 3. I prefer to have Rokossovsky as the 3rd tank gen and he fits the norm of a supporting, yet offense-oriented tank gen once you give him Armoured Assault and Rumour. There are members who considers Graziani's unique set-up as quite valuable. Ultimately, the final decision lies with you and what you want. 4. Minimally, you need 6 gens to fulfil the 3 tanks - 2 arty - 1 navy or navy-air hybrid combination. 5. For Eisenhower, I hear that he is extremely weak, so he is not recommended. For navy, Nimitz (primary) and Doenitz (secondary) will do. For air, Yamamoto (my preferred choice, but he is highly expensive), Arnold (a dark horse with lower cost and supposedly good output) or even Dowding (potential resource generator who camps in a front line airport city, but his value is unknown). 6. Preferably, yes. Invest in Leeb. His skills are highly relevant and usable. He is also quite cheap. 7. Read (5). 8. I prefer Yamamoto as I believe that practically anything Arnold can do, Yamamoto can do more or better for the most part. On land, Yamamoto's performance as a land gen is also slightly better. However, Yamamoto is extremely costly and you'll also have to account for the cost difference when comparing and upgrading your Rumour lvl.

This time around I completed it with Guderian, Konev, Messe and Eisenhower I think my post may have been a bit longwinded and not to the point. But your advice still stands, focus on upgrading rumour, do you guys max rumour for all generals? I have given it to Guderian, Rommel and Konev. So ill continue spending medals to fully max their skills before splashing out on Roko, Leeb and Nimitz. Eisenhower has served his purpose as a way to help me get through a bit quicker, but I accept he is pretty much obsolete now. I knew not to spend any medals upgrading his skills thanks to posts I read previously and same for Messe. If I do decide to fill Konevs last slot with explosives, should I also fully upgrade it? I've given this skill to Guderian already, is it neccesary to have it on 2 generals?
