I've tried it at the battle of midway but I still can't get it to work I tried to replicate it and it was impossible to achieve. Tried carrier near the Special Troop on land, carrier near the Special Troop on sea, carrier on port and ST just nearby on land and on sea. Nothing, it won't trigger. IMO its either a thing they intended to do for them but wasn't finished/gave them balance problems or simply a typo/bad translation, as these descriptions seemed to be handwritten as there were typos on some troops while on other's with the same skills were not. They were fixed in 1.0.3 and 1.0.4
Now, about the poll, I'll have to differ with the majority and pick 185th Folgore, as parachute troops tend to jump into the frontline to finish a foe or just capture the emptied city (done by tanks), and although the Jaeger hits a bit harder and has way more mobility, the main purpose for parachutes is not to go running around the battleground, and hold the cities while the tanks finish the cleanup, and for that reason, for a parachuting troop, the best is the Folgore, not only because it has solid armor, but specially for the damage reduction skill it has. Jaeger falls not far in second spot, rarely even being my first option depending on what the troop aim is after parachuting, but the Folgore performs better for the intended role of parachutes. ARR Airborne would most likely be my third option, due to their +2 sight range while still having high damage. RIP Allied Parachutes, you were clearly outclassed by Axis on this category.

I agree, the AAR and Folgore are my two personal favourites, mostly due to personal preference, but also because of their niche performance. I would say the Jaegers are probably more generally useful IMO

IMO the ARR is a weaker version of the Jaeger, far worse mobility skill, worse damage, worse hp and all for just 1 extra point on vision.
But still not a bad choice, I'd gladly say that for me they are top 3.

The Fallschirmjaeger for its movement and strength, and The 82nd, although it has no perks, it has the longest airborne Range and great stats.

This is my ranking 1)Fallschirmjäger:they are the first to be unlocked, have excellent attack and the bonus helps compensate for the lack of extra mobility 2)185°Folgore:DEFENCE,also the stats are good unfortunatly have only a range of 9,is in second place because often the paratroopers are sent behind the enemies and therefore need a good resistance 3)Parachute Regiment:like the Fallschirmjäger but with less damage and more mobility 4)ARR:Very good stats with 2 of vision,also the skill is very usefull in some maps 5)82°Airbone:Is very fast and have the biggest range,but wait,what do you mean it uses aircraft carriers to launch?I'm confused  .Bonus Point:the guy in the image look like a Monkey 6)Foregain Legion:Only 9 of range and 3 of damage,the mobility still pretty good,WAIT 6 DEFENCE  ?But the skill is useless |

A+ - 82nd Airborne: Longest range and excellent stats. My preferred Airborne. Note: Uses normal Paratrooper mode of transport, not Aircraft Carriers!
A- - Fallschirmjager - Good range, no extra movement on rivers, FREAKING 13 ATTACK?!
B - 185th Folgore - Strong defense and the damage reduction occurs more than you would think. Only 9 range, though.
C - Parachute Regiment - Baby 82nd Airborne
D - French Foreign Legion - Amazing stats, but trash skill and only 9 range.
F - AAR Airborne - Baby Fallschirmjager, but way worse.
