Idk how to phrase this well so I'm just gonna ask, I'm wondering how many of you all are members of the official GoG3 Facebook group since there's so little talk about it in here.
Sorry if this is inappropriate and should be in somewhere like the officers lounge.

I'm quite against Facebook after the well known scandals, so for my personal case, I did not know there was a group there, I will not join and I'd prefer it not being promoted here as it may shift some of the -lower than usual- activity from here to there.
I do like this forum for discussion, its well administered, guides are easy to do and not lose track of and even some ET representative do show up here every once in a while, although yes, I admit there's less activity than for previous games. Maybe caused as it only has one thread while every other non World Conqueror had its own 2-3 main threads, and this category only having one and it being at the bottom of all the other sagas. Unless people were searching for this game, I must say its not hard to miss it here.
But that is not the only thing, it is also shown in Google Play downloads, with it being still only +5k downloads (not even +10k) being almost a month old (released 18th November). ET failed on promoting this game like it did with the others, also probably because the Glory of Generals had a worse reputation than World Conqueror saga or the European War, only above the Three Kingdoms one that died some time ago.
When ET makes the game free to download, I think way more people will give it a shot, but people are not so convinced on the path of Glory of Generals after the not so good Glory of Generals 2: ACE. If they named it World Conqueror 5 it would've been more successful.

Besides it is such a shame that this game isn't getting as much attention as GCR or EW6. It's imo better than both WC3 and WC4.

I mean, Glory of Generals 2:ACE felt more of a test, which had its cons and pros. The game would've gone better if it was not so expensive and reliant on purchases up to a point.
I do like this one goes back to reality and history like it did the first World Conqueror, but I wish there was something after WW2, which so far doesn't seem so (as the two next campaigns are more pacific (possibly with some more focus mainland China, Vietnam, India etc) and Allied invasion (probably liberation of France, liberation of Italy), but no sights on Cold War or something that I really liked the United Nations vs mercenaries from World Conqueror 4, it was another risky move but it being as the late game content of a well balanced game made it good. I only missed there having some missions as the mercenaries, even if it was on the same maps that the UN campaign had.
This game has potential to grow way more than the two campaigns pending, however I'm not sure how much will ET invest into it before jumping to the next release. I wish it covers more time in history and not just 1939 to 1945.

I'm not a fan at all of Facebook, after Zuckerberg was caught (and surely there's more that it was revealed), so for my personal case, I did not know there was a group of this and if I'm honest, I'd prefer it not being promoted here as it may shift some of the -lower than usual- activity from here to there.

Yeah, the marketing could've have been much better it just saddens me that a game that I consider one of easytech's best has such a bad start  also I can't wait for the reviews complaining about the games difficulty and how useless your allies are once the game is free, those are always a treat to read when you're bored and have nothing to do or you want to repair your ego since everyone on this forum is so good at video games! |
