Kesselring and Student are both paratroopers with Kesselring being the stronger but more expensive option, Yamamoto is more of a naval air general but not limited to it.

Student shouldn't even be mentioned, he is the clear looser on this ranking. Yamamoto and Kesselring are way ahead (also in price though, but we're just ranking them on who's the best right?)
They are both very solid, Yamamoto has the advantage he can do fine on ships if needed (far from great though), while Kesselring does the same but for infantry, however they excel in air combat, which in the case of a carrier, Kesselring does better, and in the scenario of bombing a nearby city, Yamamoto is better.
I bought Yamamoto and I don't remember why, as I have the free Ozawa and Nagumo, that clearly fixes any naval shortage I could have. Looking at them again now, Kesselring actually seems slightly better, though he is slightly more expensive too. Getting a morale drop is easy in both naval and land combat if you aim for it, and if you don't get it, likely the first attack will guarantee it to be low (as with the other skill, it takes 10 morale instead of 5), so most commonly you will trigger his extra damage than the one from Yamamoto, which only triggers on troops within buildings.

Ralyks , I added him mainly just to see if there was anybody who didn't want to spend on a main air general, but I guess his use is limited to paratrooper. I just wanted to make him feel included 🥺👉👈

Kesselring easy, he matches student's output against low morale enemies and on carriers he is actually superior than yamamoto because of victory rush he is basically the best aspects of student and yamamoto combined

He can try for better luck in the limited (and not so cool I must admit) paratroop squad, there he will fit better.

Ralyks, eeeeef, I just saved, tested, and it turns out Kesselrings victory rush doesn't apply to air attacks Well that sucks.... Yamamoto is undoubtedly the overlord in the air. So it's a matter non-aerial ability. If you don't expect your air general to be at the middle of the battlefield then perhaps Yamamoto would be better.

I prefer my air generals to be on the battlefield supporting my other gens so kesselring is a better pick than yamamoto for me personally since victory rush allows him to hit really hard and be useful even if I don't have a carrier to put him on or the economy to commit to air raids

Ralyks , eeeeef , I just saved, tested, and it turns out Kesselrings victory rush doesn't apply to air attacks Wait really? Like I said I got Yamamoto so I couldn't test it myself, but seemed like it would work as it has good synergy with the air general set.
Damn, then I'm happier I bought Yamamoto, though now I remember why I did, because it could be pick for free on the Pacific Axis Campaign. But that skill I still think it should apply to air attacks, maybe it'll be fixed/changed later on by ET.
So... I have to change my vote, sorry Kesselring, ma boy Yami just overtook you.
