1812 is an empty wasteland compared with other conquest maps. Washington DC is a level vii city and British Kingston is level vi and Quebec level v, all other cities are iii and iv. The one big advantage is that the economy is just as bad for your opponents. You can win quickly with a big store if you follow the right strategy.
If you are planning an Asian princess run, Great Britain and the US are the favorites because they are 5 star countries. The big disadvantage for the US is that Canada is huge. For Britain, they are too far away to make a quick strike agsinst Washington DC. Jackson makes 115/ 14 on DC because he has economic master. Britain has to fight the American economy the whole way.
Indian faces neither problem. They are centrally located so getting to the front isn't an issue. They start with a good military and units for your 4 generals. Cornplanter is one of the best infantry generals in the game (Kahia, though is one of the worst). The biggest disadvantage is the economy, but with careful spending and tactics, you can finish with enough to get Lan.
The Setup
Indian starts with 4 obvious candidates for generals. Since this is an example Asian princess run, I will use the 4 early European princesses:
Isabella on dbl light artillery,
Maria on dbl guard inf
Fatima on dbl light horse
Sophia on dbl heavy cavalry
Fatima has been upgraded to 5 training stars.
Isabella used the artillery horse and wheel for +3 movement. Maria boots and a snare for 3 hex movement. Fatima and Sophia share a pistol, saddle, gold cuirass, and war horse.
1812 offers much less variation than other conquests. In the early rounds, there will be an intense battle at sea, Hesse will land at Yorktown and near Baltimore, GB and Russia will fight in Wisconsin, Russia and France invade Spain, Spain invades France, and Hull will attack the Indians.
Your forces are spread on either side of Fort Dearborn. You also have a light infantry, port, and village in Canada.
There are 5 taverns on the map. Britain controls one in Kingston, you have another in Cleveland. The French tavern in St. Louis doesn' t get a general until R29, hopefully it will be over by then. That leaves the two American taverns, Fort Dearborn and Washington DC. The first generals out are Wilhelm R11 and Greene R9 respectively. But the next two are Washington R18 and McDonald R16. Its critical to capture these taverns early to prevent America from using these generals.
Even though the US is your biggest adversary, you only need two generals to fight them in the East, Cornplanter and Sophia. Maria, Fatima, and Isabella fight with Kahia out West. Since the Eastern and Western campaigns are independent, I will talk about each in full, rather than both round by round.
The Eastern Campaign: Phase 1
Chief, this wonderful land given by the Great Spirit has been defiled by the white man. The tribes of the pale face fight among themselves. Now is our chance to revenge the blood spilled by our fathers and their fathers for 10 generations. Unite our tribes and send the white man back into the great sea!
Objectives: Take Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and all facilities in between
Forces: Sophia on dbl heavy cav and adjacent inf. Cornplanter and adjacent heavy cav and infantry
Stategy: Give Sophia the war horse and saddle. Move her and nearby dbl militia across the bridge to the south. As you approach, a militia will spam. Have Sofia get behind then flank with dbl militia Take the village on R4. R5 and 6 occupy stable and factory, there will be a light artillery to kill. You need to wait for the Hessian troops to begin attacking Washington. Sophia can attack Yorktown to open the way if needed. Then attack Baltimore. The other 2 Atlantic ports are too far away to help you later. Build 2 light artillery to bombard DC.
Cornplanter and his squad take Philadelphia. If you threaten the stable by R3, America will panic and build a light cavalry. America always rebuilds stronger units, so don't leave facilites open. Cornplanter can hit the heavy artillery in Trenton if Dearborn comes. If he does, spam militia to flank, and then use Cornplanter to attack. Send units South to help Sophia.
By R10-15 you should have all initial objectives.
The Eastern Campaign: Phase 2
Chief, we have captured the American capital! The tribal elders are having a great powwow outside Big Chief President's house. Our people will never be safe until the Americans are gone.
Objectives: Finish Eastern campaign, take New York, Providence, and Augusta, attack forts and stable in Kentucky, defeat remaining navy at sea.
Don't get cute and think you can starve out the Americans. They begin with so many farms that by the mid rounds they have a large supply.
Send Cornplanter and Sophia north to Augusta. Build militia and 2 light artillery in Trenton to help. Be careful of the frigate in Boston.
The British generals will also be invading. For turns, it goes Indian, US, Britain, so set Britain up to deliver the kill shot so you move in. Sophia's spy skill comes in handy vs the fort north of Augusta.
Sometimes an enemy unit will break through the British lines and get into Canada.
Starting R1, move your light infantry in the great lakes village East and gave him guard the bridge into Canada. If necessary, steal a British facility to dpsm defensive units.
Indian units are limited, but guards are available. Build a triple guard in DC, add Greene. Send him, 2 militia and your 2 light artillery against the two forts and dbl heavy cav guarding the stable in Kentucky.
Once your economy is strong enough, you need to start building a steady stream of privateers vs. Verhuell and any remaining blue navies. 1 frigate β 3 privateers cost wise. The blues will give chase if a privateer gets close enough, so use the first to draw them closer to your base in Baltimore before surrounding and attacking. Never attack Verhuell unless he is flanked.
The Western Campaign: Phase 1
Chief, the prairie burns with the fire of war! Surrounding tribes are on the warpath and our villages are threatened. Who will save us?
Objectives: Defeat invading generals, take adjacent Russian villages. Steal Fort Dearborn.
Move Isabella down the towards Fort Dearborn with adjacent light infantry and dbl militia. If you can take a free shot at the US privateer, go for it. Keep out of range of the fort when Isabella attacks the light artillery guarding the factory. Move in for 1 round with militia or light infantry. Don't attack anyone, just grab the factory and get out of range. Then move south and capture the french village and factory next to it.
The final grouping has the most difficult challenge. You want to secure your rear by taking the Russian facilities to the west. On R1 concentrate your forces next to the village and fort. Have Fatima upgrade the village. Pull away from the French border.
Don't cross into Russian territory or get too close to Beningsen. He is stronger than you. He will go South to invade Spain R1, then in R2 you can move Fatima on the light cavalry and Kahia into attack.
Have Maria on the dbl guards, light artillery, and dbl militia move south to the village. Keep your artillery well protected! You dont have any factories in the beginning so your artillery us irreplaceable. Keep a screen of infantry in front.
Hull and a double light artillery will invade. Use Maria, militia, and light artillery to defend, don't let your artillery get hit. If they go East, have Isabella finish them. By R10 Cosmao on the large fort and the port will be in American hands, but surrounding areas should be controlled by you.
The Western Campaign: Phase 2
Chief, our homelands are safe for now! The foreign tribes continue there war around us. As long as they remain, bloodshed will follow. Now we must take the war to them so that peace can follow.
Objectives: Control the western edge of the map
Fatima heads north, grabbing the Russian village and factory but ignoring the fort. Once you have the factory, build a single light artillery to help Fatima flank and destroy the small fort. Send 2 militia and your original light artillery north. Have militia flank while artillery shoots from the village. Once the small fort falls, send that light artillery south to help. Fatima continues north to the Russian city and port. Send the two flanking militia along to help Fatims once the small fort falls. Defeat remaining Russian units.
Isabella, Kahia, and Maria push south through France into Spain. Ignore Claude's fort for now. You will have to defeat Benningsen, Perignon, and Jourdan. Make every shot Isabella takes count by using flankers.
Once you have defeated the enemy forces in Spain, send Kahia to Nashville. Isabella and Maria attack Claude, and then Cosmao. Bring the two light artillery down to help take down Cosmao and the ships at port.
The Economy
Have Fatima upgrade as much as possible. Indian starts with a lot of villages. It takes about 8 rounds for a level i city to turn cash positive, so once R20 hits, don' t bother upgrading. Factories are similar. That means R10-20 should be your major investement rounds.
The conquest is so quick, I can give an exact rundown of all the iron spent:
2 light artillery south of Washington- bombard DC, attack Kentucky forts.
2 light artillery in Trenton
1 light artillery in Wisconsin- take out Russusn forts and Cosmao
6 privateers- to defeat Verhuell
1 triple guard for Greene (40 iron).
The total is 350. The only other units I bought were single formation militia. Spend wisely, get a high score. Get a high score, get a princess.
