If you have another tank general (Vatutin I hope) get zhukov, if you have an artillery general (hopefully govorov) get rommel. if rommel or zhukov is gonna be your first general, get rommel

Well yes, I guess I didn't know if you spent money on the game. if you have one slot, get rommel. If you are willing to spend money get a slot and buy govorov and rommel

I thought you only got one slot? So only one general for the whole game? Yep. Unless you drop money. ET definitely had a more P2W phase for a while.

It is true that f2p players can deploy only two generals: our Commander and one historic general. But that doesn't make both GoG classic and Pacific any easier for players who buy additional slots. I completed both games with Vatutin and I can say both are the most tactical out of all ET games I ever played. Without a good plan and strict execution of it a p2w player will struggle to advance as much as f2p players. I played Operation Bagration perhaps 30 times before I could complete it with 5 stars. If you want to play a game when almost every mission requires a brain storm, then original GoG games are for you. Otherwise I would recommend something more manageable like GoG3.

I prefer the oxymoronic mind-numbing difficulty. In addition, it requires very good research management.

Guderian is a bit cheaper and can be used as a backup infantry, but if you have enough medals get rommel, because he can be backup artillery.

Clearly Rommel. Guderian is much worse. Vasilevsky is also an excellent Option.
