There are 5 very very good artillery generals in the game imo -> (Nelson, Davout, Sophia, Isabella, and Sakurako) Out of all of them, Nelson is the one that is unique as he has leadership. Leadership actually is a night and day difference for artillery. When surrounded or attacked by cavalry (or both at the same time), artillery output decreases significantly. For example, you would see generals like moreau doing 28 damage. Nelson on the other hand is completely immune to this. This means he can handle a conquest front by himself, defend cities, and be useful longer than anyone else. Nelson also has other redeemable qualities. He starts out with 4 stars in movement so he is as fast as Napoleon, Moreau, and Grouchy right out of the box. He has 4 training stars meaning that you can quickly increase his effectiveness or heal him once he is low on health. He has accuracy so his output is consistently good. He can even carry flags to support the troops he is fighting with. Finally, since he is a navy general, he is extra useful in the last british empire campaign and can grind medals from the battle of trafalgar grind low level. Overall, I purchased Nelson as an IAP and he was definitely the best one I had ever used, well maybe except for Davout.

Get I should get him right away (in Darth Vader's mod). Never even thought of his artillery skills. It would be interesting to test him against other generals.

If your starting a new run, I would get him as an iap. However, if you are late game, I would advise against it as you already have a lot of artillery generals from princesses that are good (sakurako, isabella, sophia). Sakurako will be him without leadership.

This guy is a beast on ships, be it frigate or battleship. He works great on artillery too! (Just played with him)

He is at least top 5 when it comes to iaps, however we do get sophia and isabella for artillery that are very good. So the other 4 would be poniatowski, radetsky, davout, and lannes imo.
