Thailand 1939
Now I know this guide is useless as Thailand is pretty self-explanatory, but i’m going to have go at it anyway, since I’m not too confident in my guides yet.
Now Thailand is actually not a very hard country to play as, if you have a city to fall back on, and you prioritize your targets. You are surrounded by enemies, yes, but the French will give you a free city, the ROC will try to send something down, but the worst they send will be Sun Liren, who is in a weak assault infantry unit. Your main threat is the British. Slim isnt the best infantry general around, but when he’s in his place, he has some punch. Slim will be your main threat. India will send some assault infantry and battalion artillery over, (their two fav units) but they wont prove too much of a threat. In summary, you are surrounded by enemies, but they are all weak.
Requirements
A good artillery general
PMI will make your life much easier.
Small Beginnings
Put your arty general in your field artillery. That general will be your main source of firepower for the next few rounds. Strafe Slim, and send Phibun to a comfy spot in the jungle. Start churning out Commando units, and try to protect Bangkok as much as possible. Meanwhile, send your arty general to Hanoi. Once you have Hanoi, make sure you keep Hanoi, because at this time the ROC likes to send something down. Send your arty general back over, and start firing at the British troops. They might take Bangkok, and they might not. Just remember that if they do, it doesn’t mean failure. As long as you have Hanoi, and you take it back within the next turn, you’re good.
Expansion
After you defeat Slim, and Thimayya, it is time to expand. The priority targets are going to be Singapore and all the oil fields you can possibly find. Oil isn’t usually a problem, but with Thailand, and the amount of strafing and dropping you’ll be doing, it will. After you are in control of some oilfields, and have taken your first steps into India, you must take New Delhi, and Jakarta. From there, drop about 4 PMIs to take Mumbai, and all the PMIs you can drop to capture Port Moresby. You can also send some troops up to Chongqing, if the Japanese haven't already captured it. If they have, well you can live without it. You don’t really need to worry about ROC, thanks to Yamashita’s tirade against it.
Campaigning into Moscow
Now you could of course attack Europe through the Middle East, but that would just take more time. It would be easier to ride on the tidal wave of Japanese paraspam to steal Yekaterinburg and Moscow. I made a few mistakes with Australia on my first try of this conquest. It will help if you have an air force general to put in Darwin, and gnaw down on the battleship Crace in the port in Queensland. If he isn’t there, then good. If he is, well you need that port, so…
Europe
After you capture Moscow, it’s only a matter of time before Europe falls to your Heavy Tank train. Germany will have lost plenty of cities that they originally captured, so you must make sure you take those back. You will have a wave of troops that will fall into Paris, and then from there, all you need is a massive landing force to defeat London after that, the rest of the UK will fall. Now Europe is yours
Africa
This is where having Athens will come in handy. If you dont have Athens, then you can just build a landing force of commandos out of Lyon and Marseille, and land in Algiers. After you have Algiers, split your force to go to Abeche, and Dakar. Then, you can strafe your way into Sudan, and PMI your way into Cairo. Congratulations, you have Africa
The Americas And Pacific
Now you must split your force into two
The force that the British were defeated with will be attacking Quebec and New Brunswick, while the forces still in France will be attacking Miami, and clearing up US troops in The South. Washington will hopefully be sandwiched between these two attacking groups. I suggest building a European navy to attack Miami with, because it will be hard take it with just land forces. In The Pacific, you should have built yourself a navy to overwhelm The Guardian Of Brisbane, and captured it. From there, send a few troops to Hawaii. I should’ve said this earlier, but keep a close eye on Japan, because Arnold and Stilwell like to plant themselves there in Tokyo. MacArthur will go to Taipei, so you should steal that early on. There is really no way to invade the West Coast, unless you have Tokyo, even then, you should capture Alaska and all the far off Canadian cities. From Vancouver, paratroop into San Francisco, same for Los Angeles. After this, it’s cleaning up Denver, and the obvious capture of Washington, and you have beat Thailand, 1939!
Any feedback will be very much appreciated! This was my first successful conquest :)
