You really need that firepower. This mission is not a DPS speed bump, which makes it more important that you get the necessary firepower. At this rate, you may not even clear the second half of the 1941 North African series for the Axis faction.
As I said for other ET games, focus on the fun aspects and take your time. Rushing the game is only for the impatient or those trying to replay the game.
Pick Army Groups that you find interesting / able to clear rapidly. Clear out the Achievements for the necessary bonus medals.
As for your grinding PTSD, the worse offenders (in their respective endgame or post-endgame phases) are EW4 and its predecessors, WC3 followed by WC4. Just give your daily income and videos a chance
For this mission alone, go for Guderian. You'll probably want Leeb next followed by Rundstedt.
