... Any sort of artillery general with high HP and healing? Field Artillery are tough as nails with generals since there's no damage bonus against it and the HP bonus is a flat one, meaning artillery benefits more from it than tanks.
I mean go fight Field Artillery generals, it's a way bigger pain than anything else. Blamey is a meme because of it (and a few other factors).

Who is the best defending general? why do you ask? The best defending generals are Mannerheim, Bock, Montgomery, Dowding, Goring, Graziani, Xue Yue, and Li Z.R. I'm probably missing someone, but these are the ones I find notable for defense. If you are still in mid game, I suggest you get Goering, because Patton and Mannerheim (if you don't choose Vasilevsky,) are all endgame, while everyone agrees that the others are terrible purchases. |

And Pattons damage is worse than Govorovs on artillery. And Field artillery is what you’re going to be defending with. Especially in actual gameplay since defending cities by planting a general in a city is pretty much only worthwhile in Aliens (WW2 is too easy and CW is a nukefest). And every alien unit has bonus damage vs tanks IIRC. |
