Chapter 2 - 1946
*Sounds of an old Russian radio*
We are sorry to interrupt this program to bring the message of Premier Joseph Stalin - leader of USSR.
"Comrades of my country! I would like to inform the citizens of USSR that we have defeated the enemy of our motherland - Nazi Germany and avenged the death of our brave soldiers - sons of our soil who were brutally murdered by the Nazis. Rest assured, we have secured our boundaries and restored law and order in the country. And also to the Polish, Czech and people of other nations that we will strive towards the development of your areas and innocent people will not be held, for any charges, unless proven guilty. It is my promise that all the people, irrespective of their race, shall be protected by the USSR, especially from the evil capitalist - Britain and US. With one last message, I, Joseph Stalin, Premier of USSR, would like to rename USSR to EUSSR - European Union of Soviet Socialist Republic."
We had no inkling that it was just a calm before the storm. The way Stalin criticized us bitterly, turning against his recent allies was just plain betrayal which everyone saw coming. Churchill hit back, saying, "The USSR or EUSSR as they call themselves now, will certainly perish. A strict, state ruled society won't survive in the long run. But for now, for time being, an Iron curtain has descended in Europe. If we are to restore Europe to it's former glory, we must act quickly."
And then, came my turn. Mr. Truman was in Brazil for a diplomatic meeting. For reasons I don't know why, he made me stay in Washington, when Stalin's speech struck out of the blues. However, it was a god given opportunity for me to deliver a memorable speech - and I pulled it off!
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the USA! Mr. Stalin, being the leader of former USSR, now known as EUSSR criticized us and called us evil! I would like to convey a stern warning, on behalf of the USA - that being communist isn't a great thing. You oppress your people everywhere and you say that EUSSR will protect it's people from us!? People of EUSSR! Be warned! Their government agents are everywhere and I think you know it better than me. The US warns Mr. Stalin to speak everything on true facts and mere promises and bluffs will - Mr. Stalin, would only degrade your image and nothing else."
I was elated by the huge solidarity I got from all over the world, and from my own people, whom I already owe so much and will owe much more in the future. However, the events coming in the next few months would shatter the statement until now - that EUSSR was diplomatically isolated was going to be shattered.
North Korean Korean People's Army (KPA) forces crossed the border and drove into South Korea on 25 June 1950. The United Nations Security Council denounced the North Korean move as an invasion and authorized the formation of the United Nations Command and the dispatch of forces to Korea to repel it. These UN decisions were taken without the participation of the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China, both of which supported North Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. At the end, it proved futile as their supply lines were closer than ours and they could bring in more reinforcements. Korea has become communist.
And there is a storm brewing, this time in our own backyard.

THE CHINESE CIVIL WAR
On 1 August 1927, the Communist Party launched an uprising in Nanchang against the Nationalist government in Wuhan. This conflict led to the creation of the Red Army. It officially started the Chinese civil war. Their hostilities stopped for defending China against Japan. However, hostilities were resumed soon after. Our inaction proved disastrous as the Communist Party of China eventually won and allied with the Soviet Union.THE KOREAN WAR
North Korean Korean People's Army (KPA) forces crossed the border and drove into South Korea on 25 June 1950. The United Nations Security Council denounced the North Korean move as an invasion and authorized the formation of the United Nations Command and the dispatch of forces to Korea to repel it.
