There are a few units that all shine in their own way. Their perks are always going to suck, but not suck. I'm going to point some out here.
Armored Car: Slap Crerar on this in an infantry based Campaign or challenge, and the infantry bonus+lvl 4 plain fighting makes him amazing. AC's speed really helps out in the likes of Wipe Enemy II and Save Ally II. Also great for Air Generals. Of course, if an air gen has a good infantry skill, then put him on MI, but for generals like Arnold and Eaker, AC has more health, and is just as fast as PMI.
Commando: Need I say more? A solid and reliable unit that has damage bonus against the two units spammed most by AI: Infantry and Armor. This is one of the only units where level of research truly makes a different. You know how the USA 1960 Commandos will lose against your PMI? Well, in some instances, my maxed commando beat a Super Tank! There are also many generals who fit better on Commando than MI, like MacArthur, Okamura, Heinrici, Malinovsky, and Tito.
Heavy Tank: Ever realized that these units are more reliable than Super Tanks? Take some health off a Super Tank and it cannot effectively use it's assault perk. Heavy Tanks are faster, way cheaper, and, yes, less health and power but I see plenty of people choosing the MI's mobility and city cracker skill over the Commando's brute force. Same with HT.
Field Artillery: Best unit in the game! Fight me! it's damage module isn't terribly high, but it is better than the low damage over a large area rocket artilleries, and its firepower skill makes it extremely durable even at 70 health! I am an arty-addict. The kind of person who feels empty when selling Badoglio for Guderian. The person who feels ecstatic when having artillery, and only artillery generals. The Field Artillery is slow, yes, but what else? Italy is pretty much unassailable if you don't crack it with Field Artillery. I got 4 consecutive shots on Badoglio, and Badoglio got one on me. Unarguably the best unit in the game.
Do I really need to include MI?

Feild artillery has been the best unit from infinity.

STs outrange HTs, and that's a huge perk. And why is FA here?

Armored car: The perks of an armor car compared to an MI is that it has 15 more health and deals more damage against units with anti-infantry perk, but the terrain penalty limits its mobility. Nonetheless, Goring on an armored car will escape unscathed against a Guderian on a super tank. Commando: Yes I agree, very strong on 1939-1960 conquests because all of its perks are against human units, but less effective in 1975 due to having equal stats with MI but lacking the mobility and explosives perk, so its very situational. Heavy Tank: Is only used with Guderian when there is no super tank. Also, a super tank can kill more than a heavy tank can because of its range. Field Artillery: For most of the time from 1939-1960 is the main DPS therefore making it not situational but always necessary, but situational when it comes to aliens when defending against horde of aliens/too low on gold/rocket artillery is not available.

The thing I like about ST's are the health and the range. But once it is substantially hit, it can't damage like it used to, making it useless except in a swarm. Duh, you'll put your general on a Super Tank. He'll have more health, and will last longer with the extra firepower, it's just that for non general units, I prefer Heavy Tanks. Also, the HTs besides the German and Japanese STs look cooler lol.

STs outrange HTs, and that's a huge perk. And why is FA here? it's output that matters for me. There's always the FA if I want to outrange someone for 120 steel and 150 medals cheaper, and just a bit slower. I like arty. Artillery is a bigger priority for me than tanks, and FA and Fighters are the life and soul behind all of my conquests, so it is an mvp for me.
