I find this one a bit tricky. You immediately get spammed by italian infantry and cav plus French/Italian navy. Your economy is really trashy since you only have Rome, so spamming units to defend isn't very plausible either. Any solutions?
Bribing the brits will drain your money, and the Prussians are too far away.

You need lots of op Generals and the key is capturing a city in North away from range of ships using a op cavalry General[most recommended is fully upgraded Stonewall or Ludendorff if you have him] on armoured car and other pre-spawned units. You will need to sacrifice atleast 5 generals to defend Rome. |

So like, just using alot of generals and pushing for Lamarmora's city? Or just using them to defend Rome? Because there's also the prespawned Austrian navy there.

Yeah sure, I get how attacking Lamarmora can get him out of your way, but Garibaldi also sends his troops in and the Italians have two Battleships that can get Rome's HP down.
Using princesses can help but the Palace isn't built yet and you also need to start spamming troops for generals.

You only need to spawn one armoured car and put your best cavalry General on it and another general on another pre-spawned unit will attack it. Others Generals are mainly to be used as meatsheild to defend Rome. You get Milan and your victory is sure ( unless you ruin it yourself). |

This could work, but I'm afraid of an Austrian/French counterattack.
Plus, armored cars are expensive, and it would probably get bombed by the ships and attacked by Garibaldi's troops upon spawning.

No, their main target will be Rome and Austrians will be busy getting pounded by Prussians and France will probably send some generals but they will retreat once Bavarians, British, Canadians, Spainish and Germans which means they will only be there for a few turns. And Bavarians will help you in capturing other cities. This is the only way I know and it was successful. |

Have you tried deleting your stables and build a Large fort in its place and run your starting general to Mets? I was able to do this without generals using that method, but granted I had campaign 6-7 level of tech so it might be different for you

I think the strategy is quite consistent too even if the French hard reinforce Mets or the Austrian navy jumps in to help the Italians and French. I would post some pics only I knew how lol |
