As most of the Americans know, the Iowa caucus will be tomorrow (2/1/16 or 1/2/16 for the Europeans). I'm going to go over the whole thing and start with the candidates. I'm going to stay as unbiased as possible and I ask you to do the same. I know politics is a very controversial talking point so I kindly ask you to not say something like "__________ should be president".
btw please don't post something before I finish

So let's start with the candidates. I'll start with the Republicans and then the Democrats.
Republicans: Donald Trump Ted Cruz Marco Rubio Rand Paul Jeb Bush Ben Carson Chris Christie Carly Fiorina Jim Gilmore Mike Huckabee John Kasich Rick Santorum
Now to the Democrats: Hillary Clinton Martin O'Malley Bernie Sanders
These were all the candidates from the two major parties. You will see them again in some polls done in Iowa.

There are two types of "pre-presidential" elections. One is caucus, and one is a primary election.
Caucus: Only members registered with the political party can participate (if closed system). Voting is conducted at local party meetings and is done by raising hands or breaking up into groups. States that use the caucus system are Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, North Dakota, Wyoming and Iowa.
Primary: Some states allow only registered party members to vote; some allow party registrations on the same day; some are completely open to all residents of the state. An election is held/ secret ballot. All other states use the primary instead of the caucus.

In Iowa, the Republicans have a primary. People go and vote. Simple. The Democrats have the caucus. They meet somewhere and debate. Standing one side of the room means you're for one candidate and who has the most people on his side wins. This will be done statewide and the results will be gathered. The state level will then make some calculations and come up with a result.

These two pictures show what polls say. These have been made before the actual election.

The Iowa caucus is important for many candidates because it shows them their approximate numbers. I mean if someone were to complete fail in Iowa it's unlikely that person will become president. This of course doesn't mean Iowa's winner always wins the election. It is also the beginning of the race for president. If you have any questions let me know.

In general political subjects are discouraged since they dont really fit our gaming forum but as a presentation I guess it's fine as long as this does not degenerate into brawling arguments. If it does the thread will be locked.
