Boroevic and Haig cost the same and are infantry generals. So who is better? I personally don't know, so that's why I made the poll.

Haig. Of all the world's brave heroes there's none that can compare.
Replace streetfight with Tunnel to get tow, row, row, row, row, row, a British Grenadier.

Now this is a good comparison. At first I dismissed Haig as inferior to that of Boroevic. But after further consideration, this argument is quite interesting. Both have identical max battle + inf ability. Both only need 1 skill to be made good.
Boroevic pros- -Has got 2 terrain bonuses- PERFECT for special units (Eg. Guard grenadier) or HMG. Great mobility -Only 1 skill needs to be changed -Offensive gen, formation master, tactics master+ assault, 3 offensive skills+ 2 terrain skills that can be very helpful when attacking. A beast when it comes to offense
Cons - May be a liability in challenge conquests. Infantry generally speaking, has lower health and defence than cavalry, and since you would like Boroevic to attack, he may have a hard surviving after a few turns on the front lines, since he has no defensive skills and it may be a hassle to survive numerous attacks. This is compounded by the fact that he has tactic master, which could hurt, as he can attack twice, BUT he will also receive counter-attack damage twice as well. - You may often have to put 2 healing items on him - You might also have to equip him with a Prussian helmet or Royal Guard's clothes after a few rounds, due to his survivability factor. But he will be a beast if equipped with an Enfield. - He is only useful for special inf units (Most) and HMG. The next highest inf unit is Light machine gunner, and New infantry- Two units that have march. So he doesn't fulfil his full potential if he is put on a lesser inf unit. This forces you to save money for a HMG, and spawn him in your capital- Unless there's some random lvl 5 city standing around, which is very rare. This is another downside, as you capital is often locked not near the front lines (There are some exceptions to this, but most 3-star countries capitals' are often tucked deep inside friendly territory, eg. Berlin, Madrid) , so it takes time for him to actually join the fight. - Only Great on HMG or special units. Makes him somewhat annoying to deploy, as you would give the HMG to Straussenberg first. But he could be usable from the get-go if you play as some of the Major powers that have 2+ good inf units from the start. Overall, Good Infantry gen, useful for HMG. A Great damage dealer, and a recommendation for offensive players.
Haig. Pros - Only 1 skill needs to be changed. - A balance between defence and offense. Unlike Boroevic who is super-offensive. - A general suited for all types of infantry units, but particularly New Infantry - Plain fighting
Cons - May need 2 skills to be changed, if you hate inspiration - He is potentially a gen that can only be used on New Infantry. He has no terrain skills that help with mobility, but these skills can be added - Output is probably lackluster - A jack-of-all-trades, but a master of none. Which is sort of bad, since infantry are meant to be meat shields. - Potentially, a good 2/3 inf gen, that will me he's one of the first gens deployed in conquests, since he's not that effective on HMG (Many nations have new infantry but no HMG as one of their starting units) - More usable in earlier conquests

IMO, Haig is better if you are short on textbooks, but on Boreovic, if you swap out Battle Array for Ambush/Inspiration (depends on if you want him to be offense or meat shield), he will be absolutely overpowered.

I swap battle array and formation on Boroevic with assault and intercept. I think tactics master should be replaced even on HMG, cause I get really scared whenever tactics master procs on infantry.

Still, Karl's skillset would be desirable even in 1914. Just add assault. Also, remember, he could level up to emperor, so that's an extra plus.
I think aura doesn't really matter in this game, all that matters it seems to me are OP gens that can steamroll through spam. Like people are now praising some random green gen to be one of the best cav/inf/ etc. generals in the game because they can max out at emperor (Nikolaevich comes to mind). While in 1804, Dabrowski was almost essential to your squad, now he'd be put in the trash.

I mostly use my gens in two person teams, one with aura and one dps, even artillery. e.g. european-war-4.boards.net/thread/12234/team-moltke

Unknown to some, if you are using Beseler with PF swapped for JF, you are actually using John (EW6:1804 general if you didn't know) with Tactics Master. Crazy, right? I wonder if John would be even nore popular than Hotzendorf in the early days. Mahmud would also be pretty much useless, Alexander would be unknown, Murat would be used (only if he was emperor), Massena would be comparable to Haig, Karl is still epic, etc. Yeah, I don't see much people using aura very much, even I don't have arty expert yet.

By default, he is a good hybrid aura gen with lots of mobility and adaptability. Textbooked, he is a T-34.

Wait: what if we keep Battle Array on Boreovic. I think every unit needs a Fortification Buster (i.e. Boreovic, Joffre, etc.). He will still have strong Damage, Percentage controlled, Battle Array is much cheaper than Assault. He will still be fast (not important). He is the one I vote for, because he is good for all sorts of things, just not as many as Haig.
On the other Hand, Haig has standard skills that many players think are great. IMO, he is, If I could have one infantry, he would be it. Trade Street or Inspiration for Tactics Master and he could be great. However, he faces a problem. Assault, Tactics, Plain. This is MacArthur! Instead of InfCom, he has Ambush, Inspire/Street, a higher price, and better stats.
All in all, they are both equal Generals by themselves, but paired with Lee, Boreovic is a clear winner.
