My tech level: 5-6-5-5-4 (endgame is endgame, technology is super important)
Generals, I used: Vatutin (+KV-6), Patton (+T-28), Govorov (+Katusha), Chuikov (+transport heavy arty), Halsey, Clark (McArthur or Slim would be way better)
Note: like in any other Allied endgame land missions, in Burma Katusha and KV-6 are the main core, the main striking force of your army. Protect them at all cost.
1. Defence of Imphal. Spend your whole money on doubling your HT on the second turn and give him Vatutin (/Rokossovskiy/Monty). Let your HA be under Govorov’s command. Try to give them higher mentioned SFs as soon as possible. Meanwhile your northern army should go south and encircle the attacking Japanese in the mountain massive.
2. The encirclement will be completed by turn 4-7. Japanese army will soon be destroyed. Reinforce yourself with Patton and Chuikov (their SFs are mentioned in the beginning of the guide).
3. Cautious advance on Mandalay. Once you or your Allies hit the Japanese garrison, enemy will counterattack. Therefore it’s worth advising to keep heavy artillery and Patton on the western bank of Irrawaddy (biggest river on the map) to protect them from the counterstrike and at the same time outflank the Japanese. 1 infantry regiment shall go to the port and either capture or steal it from your allies.
4. Build a carrier with Halsey (/Nimitz/Arnold) and bomb Japanese coastal forts. Equip your infantry which captured the port with Cossack Cavalry and defeat the bombed units. This whole side operation will be a great help in your attempt to destroy 40 units in 16 turns. Use aviation reserves of the high command to clear out the objective if needed.
5. Your main army slowly advances to Rangoon, being cautious with lesser Japanese counterattacks. To occupy Rangoon you need just a little striking force led by KV-6 or T-28 and an 82nd Airborne Regiment on the rear airfield. Capital of Burma doesn’t have AA-defence, so destroying the garrison and occupying the city with paratroopers should go well.
Congratulations, you won!
