I've been seeing a lot of complaints about easytech's current strategy of update instead of make a new game and honestly, I disagree. Obviously the small updates (like to GCR) are kinda bogus, but for the most part the updates are good.
Easytech has grown as a company, and therefore may have a different view on their past projects, and want to change them. These updates often add new mechanics or a new mode, which is really great for that game. It makes it more appealing to new players, and adds something for old players to do. Considering how many people on this forum play the older games, I dont see how yall view this as a problem.
There's also the fact that it may be them testing out new features that they may use in a new game. Something like the new Fortresses coming to Wc4. If this is the case, then updating their old games allows them to hone their skills for a new game, making the final product better.
All in all, I think it's good. Their still providing us with content, and their giving themselves the opportunity to try new things and get feedback. I think the complaints are overexaggerated. Especially considering that we haven't even completed the GoG3 Library.

I actually prefer it to making new games. For one thing, it comes much, much quicker, and for another, it provides new incentive to those games, that like GCR, didn't have a chance beforehand.

The updates to EW5 made me fall in love (metaphorically) with that game. Won't be hearing update complaints from me here.

Good to see ET (Easy Tech) to be putting a fortress update which was not i expected (i expected new Generals, campaigns (like 1990, 2000) side campaigns (secret missions like in GoG3) and an expanded map). ALthough this update was not surprising, at least it adds more fun to the game  |
