I have found on baidu someone who was recommending Elphinstone as a starting General.. can anybody confirms ? his stats are skills : Sea Teaching Inf : 0 cav : 0 art : 0 fort : 1 move : 1 Ship : 2 Economy : 0 Upgrade : 1

He's kind of useful as a navy trainer but a poor use of medals in the beginning. You can try an American conquest to win Kate, who is superior in every way.

In fact, you don't really need an admiral throughout most of the game. A starting Sophia should suffice even for Copenhagen Campaign, Battle of Trafalgar and Gunboat War.

If you have 4 slots I would either a) not get a navy gen or b) get a navy gen who can also work with a land unit (cough Ushakov cough) If you have 6 or more slots then a navy gen or 2 doesn't hurt. I can see a niche use for Elphinstone given that he is a trainer but if you want a t1 navy gen that badly go get Brueys

Elphinstone as starter? Never heard of that from any popular baidu guide. The best starting trio is KuArDi and it's agreed upon by both forums.
