This is for people who don't want to get Guderian.
1. Get Messe.
2. Get Monty.
3. Get Konev.
4. Sell Messe, then Either make Konev an Infantry Hybrid by giving him Guerilla, or buy Rundstedt/Vasilevsky/MacArthur. I chose Vasilevsky.
5. Upgrade gens. Start with Monty, give him Rumor and AA, upgrade Rumor to lv. 5, upgrade Konev's Rumor to level 5 and then give him Crowd Tactics.
6. Get Kuznetsov/Nimitz. I chose Kuznetsov.
7. Upgrade Monty's Air star.
8. Get Graziani/Rommel. I chose Graziani, because Rommel's 40% mission was so hard with just Monty, and he is just as good.
9. Upgrade as you see fit.

If #1 is skipped, #2 and #3, Rokossovsky, Rommel and maybe Vatutin would step in.
If Elastic Defense could be traded, I'd rather pick Blitzkreig, Rumour or Panzer Leader. Sadly, that's not happening for Monty. As such, the slow, but steady Vatutin comes should be your second (after Messe) / first tank gen.
In the early stages, even Graziani is slightly better than Monty, seeing as how enemies deal less dmg and Graziani's Mechanist is likely visibly helpful at this point.
On another note, if Rommel's 20% and 40% missions are giving you problems, maybe having Leeb with lvl 3-5 Rumour would help?
As for Nimitz VS Kuznetsov, Kuznetsov is relatively more useful right out of the box, but Nimitz is a better long-term investment.
I think you're also mixing in elements of your gen path heavily featuring inf gens. For Konev, I gave him the relatively less helpful skill of Crowd Tactics so that his hybrid potential is pushed slightly further.
As for inf gens, I think the big guns are preferred, but I cannot imagine a smooth path in which they are hired BEFORE Nimitz. You'd want to exploit the navy Invasions and MacArthur and Yamashita's few navy *s will not cut it. Any inf gen is likely hired as an equivalent of the 3rd tank gen (or 2nd tank if you want to sacrifice Rommel/Graziani/Rokossovsky) simply because the value of other gens outweigh that of a pure jnf gen.
