Quick question, I’m interested in what history mode is. I’m a history teacher, and love the idea of trying to play something as historically accurate as possible. Is that what this is? Also, how Grant is not better is baffling, but it’s whatever. Is there any way to make him useful? I’m at the end of the campaign, but I’d like to be able to use him.

Second, history mode is a "historically accurate" mode. You can only use generals from that country (Grant, McClellan, etc. for US History Mode), are much harder than normal campaigns (I have only gotten 2* on the Battle of Gettysburg), and give out very good rewards, and if you are good a them, are easily grindable. Third, sure, but a majority (ahem, 3 or 4) of Grant's skills are trash. I mean, his stats are good. ET doesn't specialize in military prowess (before the textbook update, Hotzendorf was one of the best, if not the best artillery general, same with McClellan but with cavalry). By campaign, I think you are at the end of the Civil War. Grant will be replaced very soon (Straussenburg, Macmahon, even Lee), so if you do want to use him, use him to your best (don't upgrade him) to get Stonewall and Moltke, the latter will be very helpful in History Mode. He is going to be decent early game, but once you get 2 infantry generals, he will seem like trash, and you won't even touch him besides for daily missions.

No, I’m actually on chapter 10 with the Italians (though I’ve only fully completed a few of the Campaign Challenges). I have looked around the forums for generals (not as much skills, but I have a basic idea). It’s disappointing that EasyTech doesn’t take more consideration into something like the general WAR scores that someone created (this is cool if anyone want checked it out). I can’t believe I missed the history mode, lol. I’ll look at it.

History mode is going to be a pain for you if you are heavily invested in A) Confederate generals or B) Austrian generals. I feel like basing generals off of war scores would make some generals OP (ahem Lettow-Vorbeck if ratios), and some trash. It would be quite unbalanced.

Yup, historically accurate. *Deploys MacMahon in Battle of Verdun*

Well I don’t have a ton of Austrians, so hopefully I can use my Prussians a lot! I mainly enjoy the conquests, but I’ll do other stuff sometimes to unlock things or change it up.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any Austrian history missions, so you should be fine if you only have prussian/german generals. Yes- easytech almost always messes up in these games, but there isn't any other game out there that is comparable to the ew6 series, maybe the civilization series, but that's slightly different. I'd say that they did quite a good job, considereing they are chinese game developers trying to create a game based on european history, but for the next game PLEASE at least hire a proper translator, I mean it doesn't cost much to fix those awkward descriptions,
