Great Britain in 1806 is the strongest 4 star country in the game. Not only do you start with 4 Tier ii and I generals, but they are also on top units. A clear path towards usable tavern generals make this a fun conquest for newbies and veterans alike. This guide will outline a strategy for winning in 50 rounds without generals. At the end I will offer some tips for using generals.
Battle of the Atlantic and Invasion Nederlands R1-5
Your Grace, our intelligence agents on the continent report that Prussia will soon begin an invasion of the Rhine. French forces are preparing a counterattack as well as an invasion. The French admiral Villeneue is under orders to seize our port at Plymouth. In the North, the Danish fleet is reluctantly allying with the French. Commander, what are your orders?
First, bring your fleet back towards your coastal cannon, let your battleships screen for the frigates. Sacrifice your privateer to draw the French out. Leave a path for Villeneu to Plymouth on round 3, then hit him with your Rockets and coastal cannon while flanked. Have remaining fleet Flank and destroy French, avoid Brest and coastal cannon.
On the other side, go directly SE to Rotterdam. Cotton attacks R1 everyone else maintains distance, R2 Flank all out attack, occupy Rotterdam. Cotton avoids Amsterdam, seizes stable and/ or factory.
Get Drummond on a ship and disable coastal fort. Move to Netherlands. Leave Wellesley in London for 2,3 rounds to generate money, after city upgrades, move to Amsterdam. Sidney, Drummond, Wellesley cooperate to take Amsterdam. Cotton moves quickly to take factory at Brunswick.
Cotton's March: R5-20
Commander, the Ottoman Empire has invaded our allies in Austria. Worse, the Russian offense has stalled. We must enter the front if we hope to end the war.
Cotton is your best general so it's unfortunate that he is travelling between fronts during the critical opening rounds. Nevertheless, it's unavoidable. The conquest ends when Cotton takes Izmir, so you might as well start moving.
First, take Brunswick. Spamming light artillery from there will give you control of the Rhine. Linger around the tavern in Dresden. If Napoleon and Lannes attack, let them take Dresden, then retake it for the tavern. If not, avoid combat and travel North of the Dabube. If the Ottoman Empire has invaded Austria, reseize a facility to spam from. If not take one, like the factory in Serbia. Your objective is Sophia. From there, complete the conquest of the Ottomans. You can use the tavern.
Drummond and Wellesley take the Rhine R5-20
Wellesley's Path
Drummond's Path
Your Grace, the Rhine is on fire! Forces of 7 flags fight for control. Whichever side wins will win the war. We must strike a blow at the heart of our enemies by obtaining the port in Toulon and the city of Milan.
Avoid Paris and instead secure the Rhine. Spam light artillery every round, send forces to Denmark to aid your Allies. When Falsen attacks, counter with Sidney. Seize the market in Frankfurt and do a trade to get the economy firing on all cylinders. Have Drummond concentrate on the large fort near Nancy and the Swiss. Move towards Lyon and then Marseille/ Toulon.
Wellesley crosses the Alps and takes Milan, trade excess resources at Milan market.
Invasion Spain:R5-20
Your Grace, our Portuguese allies have requested our aid. If We can open another front against Spain, they will quickly collapse. Now that we control the sea, our forces should have an easy voyage.
As soon as the French fleet is neutralized, Put your two Irish units on transports to LaCoruna. Your fleet can now engage the Spanish ships. Avoid Brest. Use your land units to Flank the coastal cannon, land, Flank with Ships, bombard town enter, spam guards, destroy cannon.
As long as Madrid is unconquered, the Portuguese Send troops to fight. Take Burgos and Salamanca, then surrounding facilities, save Madrid for later.
End Game: R20-50
Cotton and the Ottoman
Wellesley and the Italian Peninsula
Spain and the Western Mediterranean
Your Grace, our forces are battling across the continent. We must continue a vigorous offensive. Beware of enemy coastal cannon, they have already damaged many of our ships. You must swiftly complete the war, the people of Europe yearn for peace.
Use Cotton's Spy skill to attack the large fort in Thrace, then coastal cannon on the way to Izmir use spam and/ Or Sofia tavern generals for other Ottoman targets. Close the front along the Adriatic. French navy congregates in the corner, there's a village in Create, and there is a coastal cannon in southern Greece.
Use Wellesley and spammed units to seize the ports in Venice and Genoa, and the factory in between. Make frigates on both sides to bombard, flank, and repel invaders. Destroy coastal cannon first than seize facilities. Then surround and bomb Rome and points south. Meanwhile begin sending amphibious units to Sardininia, Sicily, and N. Africa.
Marseille is the key facility in the West Mediterranean. Put Drummond on a ship then attack the Spanish coastal cannon. Send charger cavalry to N. Africa. From NW Spain, push out East and South, and then to Madrid.Your navy can kind of make it around to be useful by the time you invade Africa, the cannon are still a problem.
The main front along the channel is highly variable. Sometimes France mounts a major invasion, Sometimes it doesn't. Keep invaders on Ships and attack from the coast, don't let them land. Use Ships from Plymouth to flank. Adding Mercer to a double light artillery helps but isn't needed. Charles comes on too late to be of use. Once you have stopped the invasion, send units to the Normandy coast, capture Paris, Brittany, and then Aquitane. Most likely you will conquer Paris once you take Nancy to protect your flank. Take Brittany and Aquitane cautiously as you complete the conquest on other fronts.
Generals and other Variants
There's a dbl rocket for an artillery general, but unfortunately we want something that counterattacks. Best bet is to build a dbl light artillery in the Netherlands.
Likewise for Cav generals. Build an AC in Netherlands.
I think Kate, with dbl propellers would be a fun voice. At six sea hexes she can get to Izmir quickly.
The dbl guards At sea is the obvious choice for infantry.
GB 1806 is also a good candidate for the Ultimate conquest. Prussia and Russia are the easiest to turn, and make the conquest more interesting. If your ally goes black, everyone starts attacking. It's unsportsmanlike to leave them black too long. You can S/L to get them to go blue rather than green. You want to turn Saxony and seize the tavern. Next conquer all taverns and add generals, I think you can get a squad of 22, then get to work. Try only winning with generals, No spam, for a challenge. You won't be able to turn Portugal.
