So, with GOG3 dropping in the Microsoft Store, I naturally got it. But one thing I noticed was that there was an "Army Group" function and a "Conquest" function. As a noob, conquest wasn't easy enough for me, and didn't offer medals, but Army Group did.
I have divided this so you can find what you are having trouble with and not waste your life away reading this (this took over 45 minutes to make).
Fronts
The 1939 Army Groups can be easily divided into fronts. These fronts can be manipulated in your favor, can some will be more important than others.
French Front: So Benelux will fall around turns 5-10 without any aid. Only French Army Group Center can fight Germany, and North is kind of useless as Center will have been hit hard, and strong German Generals will expand. Italy West will also help the Germans attack France-South. Might not seem related, but Donitz will slip out of the Baltic and smash the British reinforcements which already come very late and in Benelux, not France.
So it looks like it's a sure Axis win, right? No. In some very rare cases, Germany will be incompetent, Poland will do good, Copenhagen is saved and has gotten the mainland back, so basically if Germany and allies are failures you can win as (distant) Allies on this front (besides OP Generals). Sure if you play France-North and the UK you might win this front, but just wait.
What YOU can do: In the Allies faction, if you are playing as Allies, use generals and make a defense line close but not on the battlefield, and let your allies swarm the Germans as Center, North and South is the same but attacking. If you are Denmark, use Christian and infantry generals to distract Donitz to give time to the British reinforcements. Other than that, only a massive attack and donations will save this front.
Polish Front: If Guderian is smart (which he is most of the time), he will go south then expand east/north, Smigly's Poland will die because of Guderian and their neighbors ganging up on them, then mostly Germany will kill Julianz's Poland. Yugoslavia may stage a breakout in the Balkans (more on that later), but if you donate to Germany-C and Italy-East, Romania can contain them as the aforementioned receivers kill the Yugoslavian economy.
So it's another pretty much Axis win right? No.
With more common odds this time, only Germany-D and Polish neighbors will be trash and Guderian will attack some cities and then kill himself by just standing there. Then, Smigly will actually be competent and then half of Germany-D will fall.
What YOU can do: Nothing much, if you are one of Smigly's neighbors, help Germany-D expand into Poland, if you are around Yugoslavia, beat up them, as they will jumpstart their army and smash Bulgaria if you are too late. If you are an Allies fan, only playing as Poland/Yugoslavia will prevent an early (partial, then later, full) Polish collapse, besides mass donations and long expeditions with much needed troops likely to be killed, as you have Germany to cross and they have a Rommel.
Balkans/Yugoslavian Front: Now this may be THE most likely front for the Allies to win. With early action, Yugoslavia will fall, but waiting a turn or 2 is safe if you have capable generals, if you don't just wait 1 turn to build up your army. If the Axis wait, Yugoslavia North will build up their army, and boom, attack Hungary and sometimes getting as far as Kosice, if not further. But that's not all, Bulgaria might have a big army, but Yugoslavia-South has a good economy. In >4 turns, Yugoslavia may smash Bulgaria and move in on Romania and move around there. They may also attack Hungary.
So it's 50/50 right? About that, but it may be 40/60 in the Allies' favor.
What YOU can do: Nothing much as a Western Ally or Poland, as they are busy. As Yugoslavia, wait a turn or so to build up your economy and attack, or attack right away.
As an Axis power, that's different. Rush Yugoslavia after a turn or so and you can stop their advance before it even happens, pretty much dooming the Allies.
Danish Front: If you can even call this a front, Bock will smash mainland Denmark and leave Copenhagen, and Christian will either die by the German Navy or stay in Copenhagen. So Copenhagen will live and so will Denmark, but there won't be a Battle of Copenhagen unless one of the aforementioned fronts are secured.
Yeah, no way Denmark can win.
Unless you play as them.
What YOU can do: Play as Demark, kill Bock, and it's a smooth run, it may be long, but hey, free money! As an Axis Power, just kill Copenhagen if you can.
British Front: Only if the French Front is won, Germany/Italy will start this front. Britain will be exhausted after minor victories killed off by German generals, so it's one sided. It's a late-game front and is preventable, and is almost a guaranteed Axis win.
What YOU can do: Support the Axis with $ or military support, or as an Ally, prevent this from even happening by winning a front or 2.
German-Italian Front: Only possible with a total allies victory (very rare), France-South may have success early on in Italy-West but will be stopped by Messe/Badoglio, and the UK will advance in Benelux and occupy Cologne, but will be killed off.
So yeah, early on, with Allied success will the front be revived late game.
What YOU can do: As an Axis power, prevent the late-game attack by winning, as an Allied power, actually win to fight in the front.
General Tips
Who Will Win?
The Axis, most likely. Allies have less generals and their generals suck (no Soviets yet), Yugoslavia is the only +50% chance to win early on, and even this can be stopped. The Axis have allies everywhere, and the Allies are split, East and West, so if you are doing good and the other fronts are doing bad, you are gonna need to march through Germany for a long conquest.
My Credibility
So, what's my credibility? I have done lots of research, have Guderian and Leeb, and have completed 2 conquests (meh) and have failed many more (yay). And you can do your own research too.

General Tips
- Spam infantry to defend major cities.
- Never attack a neutral country (unless you can fund your allies' campaign against it when in a stalemate).
- Major cities = Major money.
- Know your general's specialties.
- I didn't use any special forces, and I'm a noob.
- Don't forget naval tiles also count as cities and kill unites to win.
- In a stalemate? Donate to the strongest power on that front.
