I have to say, I enjoyed this mission a lot, it was quite fast paced, yet easy to clear, a good breather from most of the 1945 missions.
(cough cough, Battle of L.A)
Generals used: Guderian, Rommel, Rundstedt, Nagumo, Leeb, Bock
For this mission, your forces would be nicely separated into two to take new york, one force coming from the top, and the other from the sea at the bottom of the map.
I placed Guderian (Medium tank), Rundstedt (Infantry) and Leeb (Heavy Artillery) with the top force, Nagumo (Battleship) and Rommel (Heavy tank) on the sea troops.
Let's start off with the bottom. Nimtz, your first objective, is found at the red circle, where he'll be sitting in port. Send Nagumo and the cruiser alongside donitz to attack Nimtiz as donitz has wolfpack. Meanwhile, let your troops do the sneaky along the bottom to land at the port. Don't bother shooting at the coastal guns, you'll need all your hp to hit nimitz. Donitz and his fleet would happily pound nimitz quite a bit, while tanking the coastal guns, so nagumo against a half damaged nimitz is easy game.
For most part, your allies are competent and will manage to take the port and the city easily. Watch out for that submarine though, for some reason, it'll have a little hp left that your allies just won't kill it, and it'll take up precious space that could be used to move your troops. I used rommel to smack it to death.
(Why, ally guderian, just hit it a little more)
Now, while this is happening, let's jump back to the top.
This force can be rather fast, so it might be better to place something faster on your infantry to allow them to keep up with guderian and leeb. Leeb needs that Elefant to take out Patton, who will be chilling in that factory in the middle of that long island. My plan of attack was to follow the dark green line to hit the city and the factory for extra cash and to take out any potential threats, since cash is important. :]
Afterwards, I propose doing a quick 180, grab the port and sail down to meet Patton. If you want to, you can purchase another infantry troop to hold the city and the factory, but I just left an infantry with a special force there, and moved back to the city to replenish whenever I needed. A paratrooper may drop on your factory, so just be prepared to take that back. I bought an extra tank at the city just for backup in case the island had any complications. Kind of unecessary, but it helped some situations.
There's also this beautiful port where we can disembark at without any hassle, but it might be faster to just land on the coast, considering how fast the troops are. It's also kinda noteworthy that Arnold will be on a heavy artillery at the airport, but you don't need to worry too much about him poking you with an artillery attack and the occasional plane, since he's really kind of weak. Just focus on patton.
At this point, I'm all set to attack Patton, and it's only turn 4 :}
While this is happening, your naval forces should be battling Nimitz while your Rommel leading the ground forces should be landing.
This game was kinda bad, Donitz died early to coastal guns, which left my nagumo to face nimitz alone at the red circle. Luckily, Nagumo is a good match for Nimitz. I gave Nimitz a shop with my heavy artillery to help out, before killing it with Nagumo. A bit of a close call here, but if that had happened, move Rommel up to help out. Nagumo would be almost dead by now, but the good news is that you won't really need Nagumo anymore.
Next, take the factory and city which your allies had nicely helped you clear. Liberate them from your cruel allies into your own hands!
Then, buy a heavy tank, which I placed bock on, so that I could get a cheap stack. You'll be racking up quite a bit of money by now, so if you have spare change, place an extra stack on rommel.
At the same time, on long island, use Leeb and Guderian to pound Patton into dust.
Unfortunately, he died during their turn, so I couldn't take a good shot of destroying Patton. That's Patton down by turn 7, giving you ample time to take New york. Arnold is still camping on the airport which is slightly annoying as he may take the factory back, and I want more money. More money = More troop stacks. And Guderian should need some replenishment by now. Use Rundstedt and whatever backups you can spare to wipe out Arnold, then parachute towards New York while Guderian and Leeb speed there like hot shots. You'll have enough time to annihilate everyone on the way, so that's a plus.
Meanwhile, Bock and Rommel will be doing some heavy lifting at that city south of New York. It won't be much trouble, especially if your Rommel has two stacks. If he's about to die, retreat him back and replenish him at the bottom factory. Rommel is very important to taking New York.
By the time Guderian and Leeb have finished destroying everyone on the long island, Bock and Rommel would have pretty much broken through the southern city. These are the troops protecting New York, with the two Heavy tanks being somewhat daunting. However, keep your eyes on the objective, and move Rommel up to attack Eisenhower. New York is easily taken by 16 turns.
Eisenhowever after Rommel is done. Of course, you might not get as lucky and get several extra attacks, but Leeb, Bock and Guderian is there to help! Rundstedt is a bit slower so he may or may not be lagging behind. Afterwards, make sure to take the factory and replenish your tanks. Quite a few infantry units will approach you, (Eisenhower is dead, no boosts for you sad souls), your heavy tanks with Rommel and Bock will make mincemeat out of them.
Finally, start moving your troops up to the final city.
More infantry! And fully replenished tanks with lots of money to spare! The game is pretty much won~
No new nasty surprises anywhere, if you destroyed all units beforehand, it's practically annihilating the enemy.
In case you're wondering why my artillery is at the factory on the top right where we took early on, it's due to the fact that they had a heavy artillery on the mine. I got tired of it bombarding my infantry at about turn 12, so I used that sturmtiger. Each time it hit, it got a nasty shot back until it died.
Extra Info:
My tech level is 6/6/5/6/2, with all infantry and artillery that you see here maxed out with movement bonuses. Your gameplay might differ slightly from mine, but I'm sure you'll be able to achieve all objectives too. I trust that you should have most of the generals I used if you're here in 1945 already, so it should be all good~
Final Words: This map is really fun and doable, enjoy destroying tons of infantry with your heavy tanks!
(I decided to stop lurking and contribute this guide since I didn't see it filled and couldn't find it in the search bar, please don't eat me if I did anything wrong)
Edit: realised my images are slightly too big, lemme just resize them in a min. mmm much better
