Hi guys
I’m really confused about what I’m supposed to do with this mission. I’ve protected McCarthur for all 21 turns, he leaves via the airfield and I’ve moved my armoured car onto it, yet I’ve still lost the mission. I don’t understand how I’m supposed to win the mission, can anyone help?

That's odd. Are you sure he left via the airport?
He might've been intercepted and defeated.
If you get overrun with no units left to use, you'll automatically lose as well, IIRC.

I don’t understand how I’m supposed to win the mission, can anyone help? If MacArthur leaves, you lose. I tried that, he just leaves and you lose. You have to block the airport and protect him. |

That's odd. Are you sure he left via the airport? He might've been intercepted and defeated. If you get overrun with no units left to use, you'll automatically lose as well, IIRC. Certain that he left and certain that I have units left. In fact, when I put my armoured car on the airport, I lost immediately afterwards, not even after I ended the turn |

Certain that he left and certain that I have units left. In fact, when I put my armoured car on the airport, I lost immediately afterwards, not even after I ended the turn Might be a glitch, I guess? He leaves around turn 21 so we would just need to survive since he has been successfully evacuated. Update: He recaptured the airport and left on Turn 19/20. I took the airport, but didn't get an automatic defeat. Capturing the last Japanese position led to an immediate victory because this is another way to win an escort mission. On another run, I waited until Turn 21 to capture the airport. I still got a victory. Did you lose Rabaul? Maybe the city is the source of this glitch.
6Johnny23, are you sure? I didn't lose on my three test runs: 1. Wipe out the Japanese before MacArthur leaves. 2. Wipe out the Japanese after MacArthur leaves + capture the airport. 3. Capture the airport and wait out. |

Capture the airport and wait out. MacArthur has to leave like in the Polish Allied missions form 1939. Then you lose at the end of the 21 turns. That's what happened for me and all I had to do was put Arnold on an inf at the airport. And in the run where I lost, MacArthur was at very high health not meeting Yamashita. |
