Russia 1815 Guide
Ah yes! The good ol’ Russia, doom of Empires, Curse for invaders. The great Charles XII and Napoleon and apparently the not so great Hitler have failed in taking Russia. We arrive here, trying to take charge of military affairs after Napoleon’s return. So let’s start!
Step 1 - Battle of Waterloo
Commander! Napoleon has returned from his exile at Elba and is threatening war again. We must put the eagle in the cage before full scale war breaks out!
Objective - Rush to Paris and defeat the French generals.
Right, the first part is easy. But the second one? Not so easy. Start moving your troops and capture those of your allies on the way. Keep recruiting and keep mobilizing along the way as you will need many troops. Make sure to s/l before capturing facilities. Time is not a factor here as this is not the place for Princess conquests. Achieve troops concentration on the French - Prussian border.
Now, strike with your troops and focus your firepower on a single objective, be it a general or facility. Divide your army into two groups. The first one strikes via the Netherlands and a second one on the Rhine, basically acting as the flanks of the Anglo - Prussian armies. Davout, Massena and Napoleon strike at Amsterdam whereas the remaining have various movements. So make sure to give Army group Amsterdam more troops. Also, artillery is highly useful here so it must have a high proportion in your army. Finally, make the Pincer movement and converge on Paris. Fairly easy if you surround and destroy the generals and use lot of artillery.
Step 2 - Istanbul Offensive
Commander! The time has come to settle the question of the ruler of Balkan. The Tsar is planning an offensive to Istanbul to be the ruler of Balkan. We need to mobilize in the Alps too as Italy has presented a new threat.
Objective - Defeat Italy and occupy Balkans and Istanbul
Start recruiting troops and drive into Wallachia. Use your existing troops to attack the Wallachian RIGHT FLANK FIRST!! Driving straight into Bucharest would be difficult but their coastal flank is poorly held. Annihilate the Ottomans there. Now, bring in your troops from Russia and destroy Wallachia. Now that the troops guarding Istanbul are annihilated, they can be easily destroyed. Use your Wallachian troops to drive into the Balkans and the remnants to occupy Istanbul. Naval support is highly valuable here.
Step 3 - Operation Liberation
Commander! The remnants of French forces have retreated. Italy is refusing to surrender. We need to destroy the backbone of the coalition by occupying Italy and France.
Objective - Destroy Ottoman empire, France and Italy
Now that the French generals are dead, mopping up France should be easy. However, recruit Siege artillery as they are useful in eliminating ships and forts. They are fairly strong against moving units too. Sure, they are slow, but we don’t have to rush or keep them in the frontline. Recruit troops for the invasion of Italy. A fleet of frigates are highly valuable here. Make an amphibious landing via the coast of Serbia. Land near Rome and take it. Then, send your greater part of your army to invade Naples and the remaining to mop up Italian troops north of Rome.
In Ottoman Empire, use your troops for invading Anatolia. Use your fleet to make way for the incoming troops and occupy them.
Step 4 - Domination
Commander! Spain has borne the brunt of the French offensive and has sent an emissary for aid. Tripolitania is threatening Egypt and Africa still hasn’t surrendered. The Tsar wants to end the war quickly.
Objective - Complete the conquest
Here, divide your army in three groups. One will attack Spain via Toulouse, the second group, the army which conquered Naples, goes for Algeria - Tripolitania and your Turkish armies head to Tripolitania which threatens Egypt. For Spain, land at Barcelona and destroy their troops with your army. MacDonald is a weak general and he will probably be in water so bombard him with your frigates. For Africa, use your navy to clear enemy facilities for incoming troops. Then land your troops and clear those inland. Same goes to Tripolitania.
