Greetings commander. Welcome to Operation Overlord. The legendary operation itself. This will be a long and arduous mission, but we can finish this together with perfection.
There is no time for jokes or dallying around here unfortunately.
Let us make haste, and begin the brief.
Mission Objectives: Occupy 5 Key areas in 28 turns
Sub 1: Defeat Rommel in 9 turns
Sub 2: Occupy Le Mans in 15 turns
Sub 3: Defeat 30 units in 16 turns
Sub 4: Occupy Paris in 22 turns
Generals used: MacArthur (Infantry), Vasilevsky (Infantry), Patton (Medium tank), Leclerc (Heavy Tank), Montgomery (Heavy tank), Chuikov/Gorov (Heavy Artillery)
(If you have other heavy tank generals like Roko and Vatutin, I'm sure they'll work too, although you might need to take note of Vatutin's speed)
Battle Flow Brief
Orange Circle: Model
Red Circle: Rommel
Grey Circle: Kesserling
Yellow Circle: Notable Battleship
Overall Strategy: Keep your KV-6 and Katyusha alive, along with all your generals.
Detailed Breakdown
To start off, you're going to do something unconventional. You're going to help the British attack Rundstedt.
Why? Weren't we supposed to hit that port town where we can replenish our troops?
Hear me out. The British will attack Rundstedt, but it won't be enough. He'll turn and run, all the way down to Orleans, and replenish all his stacks.
A Rundstedt at turn 20 as you're rushing is not good for everyone.
So the first order of business is to get rid of him. I would advise getting rid of that artillery, before moving Eisenhowever in to give Rundstedt one good hit. The British will take over from there.
Afterwards, attack the coastal town, replenish your infantry and buy a heavy tank to place a KV-6 and your heavy tank general on it.
The Americans will attack the northern coastal town before heading down to find Rommel.
When your armoured car is running low on health, drive it up to capture the northern town and airfield for extra income.
Move downwards and break Model's blockade to take the factory. Taking the factory triggers a morale drop for the germans forces surrounding the neighbouring city. This will help the British roll down and secure the area.
On turn 6, you'll get reinforcements, one medium tank and two infantry at the original point. Use those to steal- I mean transfer, Caen and the other northern cities to your control for extra income.
At the same time, charge with the Americans towards Rommel. The Americans will practically all die to Rommel, so don't count on them.
You should use an infantry general with NKVD at this point. My Macarthur was out helping capture the area since Infantry generally don't meet well with heavy tanks.
To be objective, Macarthur on an NKVD could probably handle Rommel well due to his Fire Suppression skill, so you can do that too.
Take note: If your KV-6 doesn't have much health, don't sacrifice that to Rommel. Let your heavy artillery, tank and Infantry do the job. There are better ways to use your KV-6, like razing Kesserling sitting on that city below or supporting the British Capture of the area.
If you really really can't get rid of Rommel after throwing your infantry generals at him with your tanks and heavy artillery, buy a strategic bomber and bomb Rommel as a last resort.
Congratulations, you've eliminated Rommel! What next? Lots of fire and rockets!
Occupy Kesserling's city with your infantry and replenish them. At this point, you can consider buying another Infantry troop and placing your 2nd infantry general there. For me, Vasilevsky gets deployed here.
Split your troops at this point. Your rocket troops and tanks are going to head towards Le Mans, while your Infantry Brigade, led by Eisenhowever will head downwards to capture Nantes.
There's a heavy tank located at Nantes, so you might consider loaning the Infantry Brigade your Katyusha for a turn or two before it speeds back towards Le Mans.
Your KV-6 will rain hell on Le Mans in the meantime.
Le Mans will be easily taken by 15 turns, even at times without your assistance. But well, extra kills for the mission.
New american allies led by Devers will appear from the south on turn 12, and they'll attack towards Orleans.
On turn 13, you'll get a new heavy tank with some vehicles. I chose to deploy Leclerc here, and give him a T28 for extra speed. These 3 troops, alongside your other "liberators" will head directly to Paris. You'll have to give the artillery some transport troops for it to keep up.
By now, you should have taken Nantes with the infantry Brigade, and the British are controlling Le Mans.
It's time.
For the tour de france - Paris edition.
Replenish your armoured forces at Le Mans, and give your infantry troops paratroopers to jump from Nantes.
Take note of the port next to Nantes. there's a battleship in port, and if you don't kill it, half of your allies will literally turn to attack it instead of attacking Orleans and Paris. Try to get rid of it if you can. If you're rushing for time, just ignore it, and start jumping. Parachute to Le Mans, and then again near Paris.
Then literally rush your armoured forces from Le Mans.
[Shall I go now? GAS, GAS, GAS]
I was a bit slow this time, because the British kept blocking me from replenishing at Le Mans. Sometimes that happens and you'll really feel like eliminating them.
Hit Paris with literally everything you've got. One option is to take the airport at Paris and airstrike the area with your accumulated wealth. What I did as I was desperate was to purchase a missile with my extra cash and missile strike Paris. (Baguette from the sky!)
Meanwhile, your allies will be having a breeze taking Orleans without Rundstedt there to guard it. If you really want to, you can parachute down and help them, but in most cases they'll handle it.
Congratulations! You've made it to the end of the briefing, now go out there and liberate Paris!
Final notes: I was really conservative not to spend money buying extra troops. You should probably buy extra troops at the purchase points early on.
My tech level is 6/6/6/6/5, so your experience may differ slightly from mine.
If you still have troubles, or used a different method, feel free to discuss!
I hope this guide helps~
