3 days after buying MacArthur, I am sitting on 750 medals from various achievements and campaigns. My lineup is: Guderian, Leeb, MacArthur, Monty, Free Gens. I am in the Pacific Front 1942 right now.
I am mainly considering Rommel or Yamashita, but I added Rundstedt, Govorov and Patton into the poll too.
Also, I'm not getting a navy gen.

Buy Rommel on 1944, for now choose between Yama or Rundstedt. Rundstedt has slow movement and lower damage output but he will be alive longer than Yamashita and he won't make you spend much money on replenishing and recruiting Infantry also he will attack twice if the IL trigger. Yama has huge mobility better damage output but he will be dead pretty fast if you don't replenish and recruiting him oftenly. Govorov and Patton buy on either 1944/1945

Yep, can't agree on more. Except that as infantry is cheap to replenish, getting their health ripped away isn't much of a problem. Hence I'd say that Yamashita should be your choice.

Small question, (and kinda unrelated) but how far are you into the game? Is this your first playthrough or 2nd/3rd/nth playthrough?

I think that Yamashita is better than Rundstedt because 1. He's cheaper 2. Gurilla>Fire Suppresion 3. Much Faster 4. Hits Harder. The only downside is the chance to attack twice because plunder supply seems kinda useless (12%, you have to kill 8 units to save 10 gold).

The only downside is the chance to attack twice because plunder supply seems kinda useless (12%, you have to kill 8 units to save 10 gold). Yamashita, IMO, is better than Rundstedt. Plunder Supply only does 12% of a base unit, which is weak, Guerilla, with basic math, is better than Fire Suppression. Why? Let's say you are facing an enemy that always does 50 damage. They hit you 10 times. 50 x 10 = 500. 500 x .50 = 250. That's for Yamashita. 500 x .40 = 200. So Yamashita's Guerilla skill, if the 50% is applied to dodge all damage, saves you from 250 compared to Rundstedt's consistent 40% (200 damage saved). The chance to attack twice is a big plus for Rundstedt, but Yamashita safely dishes out reliable damage, and Rundstedt's whole argument is centered around the IL bonus. Don't get me wrong Rundstedt is good, but is jst worse than Yamashita.

Yamashita is a beast. I've seen him rip of two entire stacks of enemy's infantry one time and he rarely deals less than 100 damage when he has a special force on him (Wiking/552nd Regiment)

It's my first play and I'm (Stuck actually) in Operation Vulcan of 1941 North Africa. Axis North Africa is cleared.
