I am just starting out 1944 and I have 1000 medals. My lineup is:
Allied: MacArthur, Monty, Patton, Govorov
Axis: Guderian, Leeb, Yamashita, Rommel
I am thinking about getting a navy/air gen for 1945 or more infantry gens because they are very versatile. I am also seeing that there are 2 heavy tanks in a lot of missions so I am thinking about getting a second heavy tanker. There are a lot of options so I am not sure which one to get.

You don't need any more Allied gens unless you want either De Gaulle to play with Morale or a second infantry, and even there you are good. Biggest thing would be Axis Air, then Rundstedt. I recommend Yamamoto, because I usually never fight with air gens, but if you want to use your air as a second inf for now... Use Model instead.

Do you think that I need an allied naval or air general for 1945? I'm trying to plan out which gens I will get for 1945 beforehand, so I don't end up getting stuck and needing to grind. If not, I will put all my medals into getting Donitz+Yamamoto/Kesselring+Rundstedt ( I can afford 2 by perfect clearing 1944 and I can get the third by doing a few Army Groups+1 week of daily rewards).

Kesselring or Yamamoto. Yamamoto only good at carrier but his 4* Navy will be useful for achievement or Kesselring since he can be a good paratroop gen too

You don't need an Allied Naval gen other than Cunningham, and definitely not an Allied Air Gen. In addition, Doenitz, while super helpful and makes life easier, is really not needed. Yamamoto is almost necessary for 1945, IMO, and Rundstedt is a great Inf and also a backup HT.

Donitz is a luxury, but Yamamoto is a better deal because he has air stars too. So I'd say get Yamamoto and Rundstedt.

He has no naval skills and is just worse than Ozawa on a battleship. On a carrier/airfield, I feel like he is slightly worse than kesselring but I might just get Yamamoto because of the naval stars (still need the medal).

He comes with added navy stars and couple them with free ones - Ozawa and Ricaardi, you will have a great team. If it still bugs you, you can get Raedar. He's a very good navy general for a cheap price (About 300 medals if I am not wrong).

I was able to perfect clear New Guinea Campaign and East Indies without any naval generals (besides ozawa) so hopefully I can do the same in 1945. If suppose that if I can't perfect clear all the missions, I can always come back later with Donitz or another naval general. Also, slightly unrelated, but which mission are you now on? I have beaten the first mission of Allies and Axis 1944 (haven't tried the second ones yet).

Thanks for the input! I have decided to get Kesselring->Rundstedt->Nimitz->Maybe Raeder/Donitz if I have the medals. Why Kesselring? Well, I feel like Victory Rush is better than Carpet Bombing, and I can get the naval medal later.

Having done all allies 1945 missions, I can give you a tip, the allies missions can be done without Nimitz, he’s only there to make life easier. If you have done New Guinea campaigns without Donitz or Kesselring, these mission will be like a piece of cake. Buy Donitz before Nimitz as he’ll be more useful in the challenge missions. But anyway, I had Nagumo and Nimitz, and I’m only 3 medals close to buy Donitz.

Because you have an edge over me with your generals I completed the first two allies missions and haven't done any axis missions of 1944.

I have Guderian and Leeb, with all the freebies up to 1941 Pacific. I’m thinking about getting Yamamoto or Macarthur next, what do you guys think?

Maybe Nagumo/Donitz if your naval tech is low but if your naval tech is high lvl4/higher then get Yamashita/Rundstedt. If you need axis air gen just get Kesselring. Buy MacArthur on 1941 North Africa
