Messi contributed to half of Barcelona's goals. They have Messi to carry the attack but have the worst among top La Liga teams. Dembélé and Agüero are prone to injury, Griezmann doesn't fit well into the tactics, Fati just came back from a serious injury, and Braithwaite just isn't a good forward. Plus, Barça is in a financial crisis that their wage bill is way over the cap (115% vs 70%). That means they can't register any of their new signings right now (including Messi) and have to get rid of big contracts by either offloading the player and/or re-sign smaller contracts to avoid a potential relegation. |
