Get Badoglio, then grind for Guderian.

You should be able to go beyond Kursk without generals. Check out a few guides around here.
There's no need for Badoglio anymore. Still, try to aim for Guderian. Get Govorov if you can't.
Your tech seems to be pretty low. Playing conquests will help.

Govorov is by far the best general in the game, while Guderian is like, the fourth, after Bai, Govorov, and IMO Montgomery. You can't match Monty's toughness.

Montgomery's damage is too low as the main firepower. Bai barely makes the minimum. Govorov does have damage but he is slow. Guderian is one of the best damage dealers with great speed and ok survivability. You need 4000+ medals just to match Guderian in damage.

I find that tanks do great damage anyway but they have terrible survivability. Monty has decent damage with 3 skills and 4 stars, along with having Marshal Rank, and Supply, and Ace Forces. Guderian is good, yes, but I like Monty's survivability. Guderian has decent survivability whatwith Defense Tactic and Blitz, but both of those are RNG and very inconsistent. In addition, his rank is trash. Monty is more than good enough for me.As for Bai, he is Fast, with 4 great skills and okay stars and rank.

And it is definitely worth it to promote Guderian and Govorov. Supply can't help much against the hard-hitting aliens in campaigns and Rommel will benefit more from AF than him. Bai is fast, but his damage isn't amazing. The best 3 non-IAPs can deal damage beyond the standard 5 stars. Montgomery's damage isn't even close to the 5-star threshold.

Okay, but to promote them to Marshal, it is like 20 hours of playtime to grind that. Montgomery has enough damage to crack a city (with help) or trigger Assault, so he is sufficient, IMO.

Are you talking about humans or aliens? I never managed to get past Union 1, or complete an alien conquest (though I got close), so generally humans, but I have read on these boards a ton about aliens, so I have an (albeit apersonal) view of what they are like.

WC3 with or without aliens are two completely different games. Montgomery could be good enough for humans, but certainly not for aliens. The hardest campaigns in this game are Union 7 and 8.

Okay, so is Monty's survivability too poor for Aliens? in that case, Guderian's survivability is even worse. From what I can tell, alien campaign and conquests are slow death slogs with one just trying to out last the other before one can make a breakthrough.

Not too poor, but we need to secure damage first. I think tacking aliens are actually the opposite. You have to keep advancing to prevent more enemies from spawning. Every spaceship feels like Badoglio.
