Mannerheim! During the Winter War, the defensive line that the Finns used was named after him, and he is the only person in history (as of writing this) to have been made Marshal of Finland.
You saw the title. You probably play GOG3. You might be confused. Well let me explain.
Skills:
Rumor, Pt. 1: This is part one. A morale drop for the enemy when killing the enemy confuses me. Dos it demoralize the whole entire enemy force? Or the dead enemy? I have cause to believe it's the latter. For game balance. So demoralizing a neutralized enemy is stupid.
Sniper: 24% boost to inf units while commanding an inf unit can be useful in AGs when the main spam is inf. But believe it or not, ACs and HTs have sniper built into then, but using armour instead, a much better infantry killer with a general. You can smack the White Death SF on him, but that only makes him more of a specialist with slightly buffed stats.
Accuracy Strike: I have no problem with this skill. When it's on a tank. Let me explain. I would say tank SFs are pretty annoying. Inf. doesn't do well against tanks. And since this guy doesn't have FS or Guerilla for some reason, he will die in the midst of KV-6s, KV-2s, and Assault Infantry.
Rumor, Pt. 2: Morale doesn't need a skill. And since he doesn't have a defensive skill, he will die when trying to annihilate a formidable opponent.
He has no generalist worth besides 4*s, really only a specialist infantry killer, which would be fine in other games, but infantry is dealt with by Rommel and Wikings.
Stars:
I have no complaints. 2*s in mobilty is fine.
Cost:
705 is a pretty "cheap-ish" cost for an infantry general.
Comparisons:
Underlined = Winner
Yamashita/Rundstedt vs. Mannerheim - He simply doesn't have a good attacking skill, and no defensive skill, doesn't have 3*s in movement. And isn't in that Pacific '42 hellhole.
Kuribayashi vs. Mannerheim - I called Mannerheim the 3rd best inf. general. Nope. Kuri is. See above, but remove everything after attacking skill.
Student vs. Mannerheim - Mannerheim is really only good at killing infantry, so Student outdoes him in everything not infantry-related.
Vasilevsky vs. Mannerheim - Now for one Allied general. Vasilevsky is just worse Mannerheim, and has no really good skills. SF is okay, but Lvl. 1? And CT? AF? Trash. Point for Mannerheim.
Will a Vasilevsky analysis be next?
