Just a simple question, are you remembering to buy new troops? I just replayed it, and bought every ground unit there was.
Generals I used: Guderian, Patton, MacArthur, Rundstedt, Leeb, Kesserling, Donitz, Rommel
Killing the generals causes a pretty big morale drop for the surrounding troops.
Apart from that, try throwing your infantry troops to the frontline more. Mac and Rundstedt can handle headons pretty well.
I bought an aircraft carrier on the first few turns to pair with Kesserling. Since we know that it's going to rain often, use up all the air force points every turn. Strafe and bomb everything in your range. The moment the rain lets up, repeat to clear your points. Charge your carriers into enemy lines if you need to get a better shot. Personally I used Donitz to destroy the AA forces, then strafe them
I chose to use Leeb on a katyusha because I wanted Leeb's extra 12 damage from fire focus all the time, instead of Govorov's +10 being dependent on plains.
Charge with anti infantry forces, wipe out the first row, clear some space and paradrop Rundstedt into enemy lines since his movement speed isn't that great.
Try to destroy the artillery general while raining fire and rockets on the masses. Whenever possible, let Rundstedt and Macarthur take the first punch while your tanks follow behind. Unless it's Guderian, then you can throw him against tanks.
You'll have to sack a tank general due to costs in the beginning, so I let Patton die and replenished Guderian at Manila. Rommel came afterwards with the KV6 to clear the horde of paratroopers from the island.
After clearing the paratroopers, buy infantry reinforcements to drop on the island to capture the city and airfield to gain income. Also take the chance to fill Manila with your new reinforcements.
KV6 and Katyusha all the hordes. I restacked Rommel at the middle factory where Smith was and let Rommel handle Macarthur. Once his morale is down, flank him and with a few hits, he'll be in confusion. From there on, it's smooth sailing.
Any other specific questions? If you're curious on special forces to use, in my personal playthrough, I used up every paratrooper special force, every assault save for SAS, and didn't use anything for tanks and artillery apart for KV6 and Katyusha. That may be where your money is flowing to.
