Seriously, fortifications are crazy important, and I think this is the only game where they are. In addition, this is one of the few games where navy, land, air, and forts are all good buys. They are all usable, but only the best is acceptable. Take stoic's advice for investing Medals here because we have to make do with far less (Medals generated unless you replay certain missions / Legions). I'm not talking about generals or tech, but rather units to buy in campaigns.

I would rather say to buy a gen with decent air stars, like Greim. Commander will soon be too good for the airfield. IMO its better to buy the single tank general (I.E the legendary Vatutin) then an air general (unless you spend money for more spots). In regards to the commander on airfield question. I simply meant for times you have a large amount of coins to spend (I.E going for the final objective but you have no units nearby).Β Greim is cheap, and you can have multiple gens with one slot, so I think he is a decent first gen. As for Vatutin, Rommel (and possibly, although unlikely, Montgomery in turn) is tons better. With a bit (read: lot) of grinding, they are strong gens for ya.

I am F2P in GoG pacific, and even i think its too much. In addition, I still think the only Air gen you need is the commander. then use the free slot for Vatutin (if cheap) or Rommel/Guderian/Patton if your willing to grind

He works until you can afford a good tank gen. Even after selling him to get A tank gen, you still get to use him, seriously. After I got Vatutin after Dietrich, I was still able to use Dietrich if I preferred.

sheesh.. the grind here is real. Come to think of it, is there a library for these things? I did some searching, last result was an outdated one by netherfreak

It's a weird feeling when the most unexplored game is the oldest game :} It's like how we know more about mars than earth's oceans

You have to dig deep but there are several generals threads and some headquarter related ones. Also, you can find a video for each campaign mission on youtube. And, since this game is not very complex (doesn't mean easy) there are only so much tactics that you need to master in order to succeed.

Here is my HQ when I completed the game Don't let the name "Pacific" to deceive you. The most difficult campaigns - Korea and Middle East - are predominantly land battles. Most likely you will not profit greatly from using an Air general early in the game, simply because you won't have too much resources at your disposal.

I restarted these games last month. I could already finish perfectly Pacific War with just Vatutin when I played them many years ago, but could never get 5 stars in the Antarctic War missions in the classic one, so I always felt like this was unfinished business... Well, no more! Classic: Pacific: Especially the Axis missions of Antarctic war were really hard, but I found a good strategy and I prevailed. Hardest Easytech games ever.

I had a similar story arc: couldn't progress in eastern front/ far east, then EW4 caught my interest and after joining the forum and completing that I went back to my existing GoGs and finished them with heavy s/l. Years later when feeling like a true ET veteran, (must have been around the time between EW6:1804 and 1914) I had the confidence and skill to beat it "the proper way" What game is next for you?

Maybe I will continue with EW7. After being stuck on the battle of Bauge, I just kept grinding. I have a sort of love-hate relationship with that game. I like it, but grinding daily missions, exoeditions and territory battles is severely tedious, and they keep adding new mechanisms and currencies, when I would just want new campaigns and conquests.

Yes I understand, I mean there is a certain charm to optimize resource gain, carefully plan spending and always be maximally prepared for future changes and updates but (for me too) the ultimate thrill comes from working towards beating difficult missions by understanding the mechanics of the scenario and adapting to it. It's certainly helpful if the mentioned preparations are credited and it's also good if there is the possibility to overcome difficulty by grinding. However, EW7 doesn't give much room for experimenting with strategy since having better units/generals and higher levels or more war drums turns out to be the preferred solution in most cases. Not sure if I'm going to play their next game if this trend continues since I'm not a big fan of daily grinding (and being confronted with IAP options at every corner).

Definitely the best ET games ever alongside EW5. And definitely the most "tactical" out of all ET games. No "teams", limited resources and a constant pain in the neck to find a "proper way" And finally (as a bonus reward) a true understanding of the saying: "where there is a will, there is a way"

Ah, good old days.
