Welcome commander, to the battle of Smolensk.
This mission is fairly straightforward, without any hidden surprises, and lots of support from your allies.
It's also quite an important mission, which unlocks the Panther.
Excited and ready to destroy the soviet horde awaiting you? You'd better be, at least for the glorious panther.
Without further ado, let's get started!
Mission Objectives: Occupy 4 Key Areas
Sub-mission 1: Defeat Timoshenko in 7 turns
Sub-mission 2: Defeat Rokossovsky in 15 turns
Sub-mission 3: Occupy Smolensk in 16 turns
Generals Used: Model (Infantry), Bock (Tank), Messe (Tank)
Detailed Breakdown
To start off, we're going to be good soldiers. Good soldiers follow orders.
We're going to do the sneaky and strike the rear town, fast and hard with our panthers.
Move the armoured car up to scout it before moving Bock and Messe up to give the city good shots.
Meanwhile, use Model and your other troops to lay siege to Bialystok.
I would advise you not to throw Model into the exposed frontline yet, for that might lower his hp a bit too much.
Consider shielding him with other infantry, one variation which I used in the below picture.
Continue razing the rear town, and capture it. This triggers a morale drop in Bialystok. Perhaps because their supply lines have been cut?
Seize the moment, flank and attack the city while they're in confusion!
Consider buying reinforcements in the rear town. Timoshenko will start approaching you after you take the rear town.
I chose to buy a heavy artillery and an infantry here instead of Minsk as I could use them earlier.
Remember to recruit stacks on Bock to face Timoshenko
Quickly take Bialystok, which will trigger a Morale drop on Timoshenko's forces and forces in Minsk.
Same deal, same drill. Flank him, finish him off before rolling to Minsk while capturing surrounding resources.
I would now also advise you to consider transport troops on your artilleries to keep them moving to where you need them to be.
Armoured Horde!
Keep recruiting extra stacks on Bock!
After taking Minsk, the soviets will counterattack from the southern town.
I left my infantries to guard the town, which I can Paradrop forward later, while my armoured forces charge forth first.
Once again, stack Bock.
Rokovossky will attack you the moment you cross that river.
Ideally, you should move Model up to face Rokovossky, but if you can't just play Bock and terrain advantages while bombarding him with all those artillery.
After defeating Roko, Minsk should also be secured. Paradrop your infantry forward, while rushing your armoured forces for Smolensk.
Use your artillery and troops to focus fire on the city. Everything else is now irrelevant.
Besiege them, encircle them, and get the city at all costs!
Congratulations, you've finished studying this briefing! Roll out there and win the race to Smolensk before enjoying your new panthers!
Final notes: My tech level is... drumroll... 0. Special forces are all 0 too. Generals are all free. If I can do it, so can you!
2. Remember to equip special forces! I didn't really use much of them, but they'll definitely make your life easier.
I hope this guide helps if you have any trouble.
If you have any further questions or discussions, feel free to post them here!

Battle Flow Brief
Red Circle: Rokovossky
Terrain and Situational Brief
1. Mountains and forests near the initial deployment point
[Not much of a problem due to given Panthers, consider transport troops for others]
2. Plains across most of the rest of the map
[Fast Movement of troops]
3. River bordering Smolensk
[Absolutely terrible to cross, consider entering from the town near the top]
4. Many city-factories spread evenly across the map
[Good for replenishing troops]
5. Airfields spread across later middle half of the map
[Possible to paradrop on later objectives, but too far apart for efficient use of air force]
Overall Strategy: Play Key morale drops to your advantage, use Bock to tank through everything
