I have played EW4 and in that game there was a clear resume and save button but I don't see it in this one. I want to continue where I left off and it says "do you want to overwrite your save" so I know I can but I don't know how.

Bottom left. Same for conquest. Decisive battles restart if you back out. For conquest, there are times where the data won't be saved. Just don't close the app during a conquest and you'll be fine.
