I beat the campaign levels up to the battle of Sucro and got to Stonehenge and a bit further without a general. I have a lot of money saved up but I don't know which general to buy. I'm thinking about one cavalry and one infantry, since I gave commander the archery skills.

I'm thinking about one cavalry and one infantry, since I gave commander the archery skills. I suggest changing your archer commander into cavalry or infantry, preferably cavalry. Since the commander could become your best general(bar IAPs with their banners), you want your commander to have a more active role to be able to make use of his advantage of free +40 atk for the target unit he commands, and the ability to use any skills. For generals, Pompey is great for infantry. Flaminius is a cheap option for infantry and does great with the banner of Jupiter. For Cavalry, then Belisarius. Pacorus is the cheap alternative. For archers, Mithridates is the best non IAP archer, tho I suggest buying cheap options like Pedius and/or Trebonius first, and focus your medals in buying infantry and cavalry generals. They do just fine for archers, and you can sell them later on.

here is how i buy my general as f2p player (currently on Scourge of God campaign): > Commander as Infantry > get Pacorus (good early Cav gen) > get Pompey (Best f2p Inf gen) > change Commander as Archer gen > get Antony (Cav gen - his talent is very helpful on conquest) > get Vercingetorix (i need strong Infantry general beside Pompey so i bought him) > get Belisarius (Best f2p Cav gen for me, surprisingly i was underestimating him before buying him and that's why i bought Antony first, but later on Belisarius is the most reliable general for me) > get Cleopatra (for Navy purpose, she shines in conquest mode) > get Mithridates (arguably Best f2p Archer gen for me)
after that i focus on buying Medal item like Golden Spear and so on good generals that you should consider buying: Drusus, Bato, Commius, etc (they are silver gens that are arguably better than some gold gens)

My personal top 5 exluding Commander and IAPs (I know this is kind of off topic) would be:
Infantry: 1. Vercingetorix (Pompeius has worse damage and survivability, he only wins in mobility and the Golden Feather can fix that) 2. Pompeius 3. Crassus 4. Bato 5. Labienus
Cavalry: 1. Belisarius 2. Huo (I just can´t seperate these two) 2. Arminius 4. Antonius 5. Tiberius
Archers: 1. Mithridates VI 2. Octavianus 3. Drusus 4. Cleopatra 5. Surena
Navy (exluding Aetius: 1. Cleopatra 2. Agrippa 3. Sextus Pompeius 4. Pothinus 5. I don´t know.

You need minimum 3 Of each so:
Infantry:
1 Pompey 2 Vercingetorix ( Fearless it does not make sense because after 3 attacks you have already lost a circle of life) 3 Crassus/Cassius (personal selection Cassius because I love him….no homo)
Cav:
1 Belisarius 2 Arminius 3 Scipio
Archer:
1 Mithirades VI 2 Octavian (Maybe unnecessary) 3 Cleopatra
Navy:
1 Cleopatra 2 Agrippa 3 you don’t need 3 Navy Generals

i cannot find Aetius anywhere It will be a while before you can get Aetius. Even end game players are having trouble with the missions in the hero legend he is in.

Actually Sertorius is good in infantry as well, just for his defence skills.

Actually Sertorius is good in infantry as well, just for his defence skills. Labienus has the same talent. Also Vercingetorix has objectively better survivability and arguably better damage.
