Between both, go for cav. Not an expert or even finished the game as I just started, but you can get by with the free navy gens the games gives you. Hopefully a more experienced player replies here, but yeah that's what I'll do. Based on the thread where I asked about game difficulty, the game shouldn't be too difficult that it requires you to buy navy gens asap.

If you don't have Beatty in the battle of Jutland - then with high degree of probability you won't complete it with 3* The number of British admirals and generals for this mission is rather limited, so, it will be really challenging to do it. It is possible to complete all campaigns with land generals and free admirals, but, I have to admit, deploying Beatty or another top admiral will make your life significantly easier in some missions. So, my advice, don't buy an admiral "just in case". Buy an admiral when you really need him.

Imma suggest Beseler but if you already in Chapter 8 get Hipper or else you'll stuck at their first Naval battle. And also get Plummer if you can

If you really want to go for History Mode, get Joffre (turtle) and MacMahon (Diet F2P Petain).
McClellan is "eh" unless you are going for HM and instead of him, I say get Plumer or Johnston if you can't afford Plumer.
Instead of Hotzendorf, get Beseler and swap out PF for JF.
I say get Hipper, however, much better than Beatty. If you want, get Beatty for double trouble and/or HM.

Ah makes sense I will get Plummer. Medals are easy to get but textbooks are pretty hard.

You should get Nikolaevich, 5 textbooks to change his Station to Plain fighting and we have a super hybrid that good on every unit, in every mission even History mode, with high mobility and +25% everywhere. The best general of EW6 1914.

I got Plummer yesterday I'll try to get beatty or hipper today then I'll check out nikolaevich. Oh, if you got Plummer, you can get Nikolaevich later for Russo Turkish war History mode. Nikolaevich is good at the beginning of the game coz hiring him cost coins only; his versatility make him good even with artillery or infantry, at the beginning ofc, when you have some free gens only. He’s not very strong compared to top tier generals.
