Deleted, don't forget Saladin, Khalid and other Muslim commanders as well (in the context that the Crusades were a series of religious wars, so the religions of the commanders were used over their race/ethnicity). Good old Gungnir + Logistics Saladin carried my conquests once, can he carry them here as well? The two sides had famed commanders that fought in the Crusades and outside. I'm unsure about who can be the other named commanders on the Christian side, but Lionheart can't be the only one.

I do know an asshat knight that Saladin straight up executed, but I forgot his name.

Um, I thoroughly enjoy the Crusades, and Khalid was NOT a Crusade general. The major ones were Richard, Guy of Lusignan (an idjit), Godfrey of Boullion, Baldwin 1-30, Philip II, Count Raymond of Toulouse, Louis IX, Frederick Barbarossa, Frederick II, the Doge of Venice, Conrad of Montferrat, Simon of Montfort, and Roger of Lauria (a jerk) for the Crusades. The Muslims had Saladin, Nur-ad-Din, Saphadin, and that's really it.

He's known not only for his decisive victories over Crusaders, but also as one of the victors over Mongols at Ain Jalut.

Yes, in hindsight it was very foolish and embarrassing of me not to include such an influential commander. He was not only known for his battlefield prowess but also his famed cruelty. Like, worse than Roger of Lauria, with whom he actually shares some interesting parallels.

Was it the story with the 2 dudes and Saladin making the other one give him water because Saladin wouldn't kill anybody who he's shown hospitality towards.

Saladin and Roger weren't even alive at the same time It was Raynald of Châtillon I was also half mistaken in what I thought was the story. After the battle of Hattin Saladin offered Guy of Lusignan water (sign that he was safe from harm) but not Reynald and he gave him the choice of converting to Islam and when he refused Saladin beheaded him. Obviously Reynald would refuse, Saladin just wanted to kill him because like stated before he was an asshat.

Sorry about that, they were both jerks, both major naval commanders, and their names started with an R.
