I was making this thread earlier but my Mac decided to not cooperate and die. So here's a tip people: Don't buy a MacBook Air.
If you're asking why I'm doing Denmark 1950 without any generals, it's cause... well actually I can't give you a good reason. But it uses a really big brain strategy.
Note: I have max tech
Part 1:
Turns 1-5:
- You actually start with a pretty decent defense. You have a coastal artillery and a land fort. But don't use them to attack anything besides enemy generals when they're in the water (eg. Konev below).
- Use your motorized infantry to steal the Norwegian port. This has 2 benefits. 1: You're GOING to lose Copenhagen at some time during this conquest, so having a port ensures your survival. 2: Norway is bad cause they waste all their money on destroyers. So stealing their port forces them to build land troops which will really help your survival.
- After you steal the port send your car back to Denmark. Don't build anything in the port. Your allies won't take it. Trust me. Your motorized infantry will take back Copenhagen if you ever lose it, so it's an insurance policy. If you lose Copenhagen again you'll have to use your heavy tanks.
- Build a heavy tank on turns 1 and 2, and then exile them to the west (no not really, just send them a couple hexes west of Copenhagen). You'll need them later. Park your howitzer behind your land fort.
- You will earn about $102 every turn, so your economy allows you to build one light infantry every turn. This is very important cause the USSR always uses paratroopers/fighters, etc. before they move their units. So if you have something inside Copenhagen they can't parasnipe it.
- Don't attack at all. Defend, and kill the Soviet generals as they enter the water. You can do this for Konev, Timoshenko, Zhukov, Chuikov, and Rokossovsky.
Turns 6-10:
- 2 USSR generals dead. Keep waiting.
- The reason you don't build any ships in your port is so the Soviets can cause their own demise by clogging up the Baltic. This is VERY important. NATO generals prioritize attacking Riga. So they'll travel through the water, which results in them getting killed. Blocking the Baltic off forces them to land in Denmark and live.
- Keep building light infantries. If your economy permits build a heavy tank.
- Don't take any empty cities just yet. You'll lose them right away.
- Also keep your heavy tanks in Denmark and don't move them into Germany like I did. But leave a space for the NATO generals to land.
Turns 11-15:
- By now Rokossovsky should be dead. The next few turns will be very important. You'll need to make a combined push with the NATO spam and take as many cities as you can before it dies down.
- If Stockholm is empty steal it. They won't need it anyway, but you will. You don't really need to build infantry in Stockholm cause by now the USSR has clogged up the Baltic so even their own units can't invade Sweden anymore.
- After you take Stockholm your economy will permit you to build an armoured car every turn. This is very beneficial cause light infantries are basically just meat shields here, but armoured cars can actually attack (they're also a really good meat shield in 1980)
- Don't worry about any Soviet ships. The NATO submarine spam will kill them on their own.
